Great fight! Mayorga down in the first round and then overwhelmed in the 6th. Great performance by De La Hoya, he disected Mayorga for the entire fight.

A great performance by DLH , he made Mayorga seem like someone who lacked a chin and punching power which is the two things Mayorga has in abundance .

If he does get a fight with Floyd Mayweather (which would be at light-middleweight-154lbs) I think DLH would be too strong for him , Mayweather can still make Light-Welterweight-140lbs and will probably be slowed down by a move up in weight .

Good points. It will make for a great fight either way.. I think Mayorga was custom made for DLH.. He's just to precise with his punching for a slugger to take him out. Definately one of the most exciting fights of the year.

Hes one clever man that DLH. Mayorga was the most perfect opponent he could have choosen, a title holder, good rep, loudmouth to motivate and sell tickets/ppv, brawling style that a skillful boxer like DLH could easily pick apart yet who always has a chance with that nasty right to ensure the fight isnt called a walkover. Very smart. What surprised me though was the way DLH fought, instead of moving around a lot and picking him apart and just outboxing him(which he did to an extent) he really stood toe to toe with Mayorga and brought the fight to him for the most part. I dont like DLH with his butter-wouldnt-melt-image but you cant deny his skill and greatness and the thought of him and mayweather in a ring makes my mouthwater(Fingers crossed it goes through). I think Mayweather would win by quite some margin though, Hes just such a good boxer, hes no Mayorga thats for sure:p

P.s. I was just watching this video as I stumbled across this thread http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS8PxWYiaMM&search=mayweather%20train (let the whole video load before watching) I have never seen a more impressive boxer in training in my life. That skipping is mind boggling, not to mention the hand speed:) enjoy
