looks very slick. i like the idea of it having an incentive to play in a squad etc.

but i'm still going to be pissed off the first time i have to download a patch for bf2 AND bf2142 in the same day

Battlefield works because of the rock-paper-scissors nature of the combat--every weapon and vehicle has a counter

Obviously he has never played the game.
You will also be able to mix and match your equipment and gear, so you can choose which grenades to take along, or you may know what your opponents are carrying and customize a weapons load to counter them. The more you play the game, the more you'll unlock, and the greater your customization options will be.

    Medic with a G3 :D
To win Titan mode, your team has to destroy the other team's Titan while protecting its own. This won't be easy, though, as the Titan can move around. To destroy it, your team has to assault it by having the infantry board it via pods and then battle inside the corridors of the Titan, destroying various security checkpoints. Once the checkpoints are cleared, you gain access to the nuclear reactor powering the Titan and plant explosives on it. It sounds simple, but from what we've seen, it looks to be pretty crazy, just like Battlefield should be.

    That sounds gay.

meh. if i want futuristic shooters ill play ET:QW when its out. BF shouldnt be about mechs and titans or whatnot.

Well in fairness the only way to go was forward, they done WW II, they done 'nam, they done modern warfare, next logical step was the near future.

like was said, they've done everything else. the next logical step is to predict what's coming next in warfare.

but yeah, ET:QW looks just as, if not more, interesting. though playing q4 annoys me because i can't put on the ultra high graphics because i don't have a 512mb card :(

Hmm, I don't know if I'm a fan of the new futuristic setting of BF, whilst I'm sure the core mechanics of the gameplay will be the same I still would have preferred the scenario to be more akin to modern day than Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (one game I'm looking forward to for sure - that and UT2007)..

heres a vid of it http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/latest-battlefield-2142-footage#more-1852

looks like star wars to me:D i doubt it will be any where near as good as bf2 cos they cant make it to have realism since nothing in the game really exists!!

with all that crazy new stuff imagine all the patches! i can't wait:rolleyes:

if you ask me the next logical step woulve been to rerelease BF2 only this time dont include any of the bugs, exploits, remove the stat whore ranking/badges system, make the weapons work properly, include some kind of spawn protection so that 64 player maps are actually enjoyable to play instead of being a 'spawn - die -spawn -die'fest, stop releasing bugged patches that cause more problems then they fix and well basically rewrite the game from the ground up.

does the world really need another giant scale futuristic warefare game - NO!

Not to be too pedantic, BUT.. there's an intrinsic problem with using lasers in a network-distributed warfare environment, because the last I checked, lasers were travelling at the speed of light, yet update of the game state at each of the connected clients is subject to some form of lag, however light - so, has EA invented lag-free squad FPS, or has EA invented lagging light speed :D ?!?

They should have re-done a mix of all the BFs (42, nam and 2 = play WWII, nam or WWIII, depending on the map), with huge 64/128 urban maps (safe assumption that everyone playing it is on BB so bandwidth should be there for 128 players), and prettier graphics (can't believe I actually said that last bit, but there ya go...).
