Just as a matter of interest,
There are 320 gig USB2 external toshiba drives in Currys at the moment for 169.99.
I got one last Friday week in the Galway brance-PC world being part of the same group, are also doing them I think.

As I'm a computer chump, could anyone comment on the laptop they have available. Is it worth a look?

as long as you don't want to play games it seems pretty good. It has got a very small screen which is great for travelling but not so great if you intend using it as a desktop replacement

GF got one of those laptops a while back.
    The battery is excellent.
She gets about 3 - 3.5 hours out of it(just word processing and internet etc).

    It's actually a SONY DVD RW DW-G121A.

I'm very impressed with it. It's even Mac compatable, although I'm not sure if I'll be able to get the Lightscribe stuff working on the Mac.

HOLD YER HORSES THERE!!!! Log on to www.komplett.ie and search for light scribe. I ordered a burner from them with 10 light scribe DVDs and it set me back 68 yoyos including shipping

Samsung DVD±RW burner, SH-S162L, 16x, Dual, LightScribe, DVDRAM, White OEM 45 euros

That's an internal drive. €75 + another €10 or so for delivery is the best they have for an external drive.

do you need to use patchburn for mac compatibility?

Nope.. I just plugged it in and it was recognised.

I used Toast and it spotted the drive and burned the disc no problem.

I also bought the €15 Webcam... it's a nice little unit, but alas my Powerbook doesn't recognise it.
