A few of us here use Flickr now, so it only makes sense that we have a group, as I see a fair few photos posted here from said online social photo sharing site.

Add your photos to the group that you post here, so we can flame them all at length. :D I'm sending out invites to those from the boards whom I know on Flickr.

    Clicky

With all due respect to Flickr, I do not use them because they have no facility to expand hosted photo's to Full screen which makes an enormous differance when viewing.

    Personally I use www.photobucket.com/
where by hovering on the bottom right of any photo, you are given the choice to expand the photo or photo's to full screen.

Er, it does, go to the All Sizes button!

Photobucket is grand, but theres no organisation or social possibilities with it. I didn't mind that at first, but when I joined Flickr, I found it much better!

I have added a photo to the Flickr group to make a start. The photo in question has not been posted here though. Is this an issue?

Is it a problem? I have posted a fair number of photos lately on Flickr and I would prefer not to have too much duplication. In any event it seems to be a little easier to organise photo galleries there. This forum does not seem to be suitable at present for the posting of photos without some reorganisation.

Er, thanks for that info, but having just gone through a load of pooh, whereby I was forced to join Yahoo ! a worldwide commercial billion dollar organisation ?.. which in good faith I did. I still can not find this mysterious " All sizes button " on the Flickr website ?... I am thoroughly pissed off :o .

No need to get uppity about it, I just said you can use that button.

If you don't like it, fair enough, don't use it. The Boards.ie group isn't trying to exclude people, but if someone does use Flickr, then why not use it...

As an oldie retired 'Silver surfer' who has only been taking photograph's for over 50 years who has also had [copyrighted photo's ] published in print media throughout the world, although I am newish to computing, and I am now a fully fledged member of Flickr, I still can not find that button at the top of my screen, maybe it only appears when a member starts loading photo's ?.. , and I am now more suspicious of their credentials than ever.

Its on the actual photo's page and its also dependent on the size of the photo - with a small photo it won't have the option to view a larger photo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I joined up anyway. Now to put some decent photos up into my Flickr account.

All is right in the world again, but if I had been told that first you click on a photo, and then you get the button ! it might have stopped me running around the Hill's of Donegal, pulling whats left of my hair out ?.....:p .

I just uploaded a few of my pictures and now they are across the top of the whole screen... they need company - someone else better join in soon...

Oh and P.S. I used to use photobucket and thought flickr was unneccessarily complicated - but after getting into it I've discovered lots of fabulous things about it, namely these groups where you can browse others' pictures at length, and leave them comments too. I also like being able to mark a picture as a favourite, and then have a list of them all together that I can look through when I want to see some great stuff.

It's also good to have contacts and then if you go to your contacts page, you can see all the new stuff your friends are posting.

I'm not a sponsor or anything... I'm just surprised because I didn't like it at all at first and now I'm converted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,908 ✭✭✭CrowdedHouse

LOL - first time to try it and thought I was using up my 'space' very quickly so I decided to remove and resize the pics-It was only then I realised it was an upload allowance ...oh well :o

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 688 ✭✭✭skye

Well when I click on your link it comes up ok as Fionn2006 - to join the boards group - click on the link at the start of this thread and you will see an option to join this group - be logged in first... and that should do it.

Good idea. I've signed up for the group (flickrID=afewscoops) but I don't get to put too much up there as most of my non-drunk-in-pub photography is on film.

Quick question re Flickr....why is it that if I look at the Boards pool without logging in (to Flickr) I can see 116*(my own are missing) pics and if I log in I can see 143* including my own ?

Just a thought but are your pictures selected as "public" or "private", if private only you can view them.

Whats the link to your Flickr site till I have a look?

Remember if you've just joined up, to go to the 'Account Page' (the link is at the bottom of the screen under the 'My Account' heading) and choose 'screen name' from the right, and put your nick in there too so that you don't get all the 000s when you post a link to your photostream. The name you put in there doesn't have to be the same as your login name remember.
