Big up The ORIENT

What a day of high drama it was in League 2 today. Around 7 teams could have been releagted, and Orient simply had to match Grimsbys resyult against Northampton to secure promotion. Orient were playing relegation threatened Oxford.

As it approached 4.45, it was 2-2 at The Kassam, and 1-0 at Blundell. Grimsby were up at this stage, and Oxford needed another goal to survive. Orient needed another goal to secure 3 spot, and promotion.

4.46 Northampton equalise, putting Orient back in the driving seat.

4.47 Word hasnt got through to the Os yet, but up steps Gary Alexander, their much maligned striker, to score his first in 19 games to secure it for the Os, their first automatic promotion in 36 years. This also sent Oxford out of the football league. Must have been a strange athmosphere in the stadium, one section going nuts, the other morbid.

Hope to see them against Forest next season at the Matchroom, maybe Tranmere also. Think I'll give the Millwall game a miss though!

Disappointed, would liked to have seen Oxford stay up.

Dissappointed for Oxford, what with their new stadium and all, now having to play non-league

Was watching it all on Soccer Saturday, great way for the season to end. Riveting stuff, despite the fact that none of the games were live on TV.
