Its not I think I need a circucision, I know I need one. But I keep putting off and wonder will I do so forever. Not really embarrassment, a little I guess, but also the thought that it is non-reversible surgery.

My question is, and I know there are some chaps here who had the snip done, so I would appreciate an answer from them:

When you get the chop, do they remove the banjo string? Or do they remove the end of the foreskin and leave the banjo attached to the glans and re-attach it to the new end of the forskin???

What are your thoughts before / after the procedure?

I don't think I could bear to loose my banjo string...

    Thanks.

Say it in english. Your banjo string could be your penis, for all we know.

Anyhoo's. Mate got the chop, his penis was bandaged up for a few weeks, but after that, he said it was as right as rain. He says it takes a bit getting used to, but after a month or two, you won't notice the difference.

the_syco. Banjo string is frenulum in medical terms.

    According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frenulum, yeah probably.
(also note the reference to banjo string in that article :D)

The surgery is reversible with weights that stretch the skin back.

Hope I'm not being to nosey here but why do you think you need it done?

but if the banjo string attaches the foreskin to the penis then how could they leave it? what would it be connected to...

and ya i'm also curious as to why you think you "need" a circumcism

    Thanks for the replies.

    the_syco - yes, I meant the frenulum.

Donkey style - thanks for the link, now I also learned that I have a banjo string in my mouth under my tongue too!!!!!!! That one is fine though!

Ciaran500 - no problem, imagine you bought a polo neck pullover. When you put it on, you cant get your head through the top with just a bit of your crown showing... - I know the op is a necessity for sure!

Anyone out there can post their opinions on before / after??? Any regrets? How much skin is removed???

You should do a search on this forum. There were a couple of threads recently which discussed this in detail. Seems like circumcision is the last resort. The condition you describe can be sorted in other less invasive ways.

Nice analogy, but circumcision should be a last resort. Sensitivity will be lost from the tissue that is removed and your unprotected banjo will become desensatised to some extent.

Well, thanks all for your replies. I have read a bit about stretching but it doesn't look feasible in my case.

I will check it out though.

Has anyone any first hand experience with the op?? Or with stretching?? That website mentions desensitizing nerve endings and there is nothing about the banjo string on there. If I see the graphic of the way the op is done, then I think the banjo is removed with the first 20% of the foreskin.

Any posters here who actually went through this op can confirm?? I would like to know this for sure because once I go to the doc, I want to be prepared....

    Banjo Boy back...

Have had it done since I was 2/3, frenulum is still there.

To be honest, you would be better off going to the doc, and if nessecary geting a referral to a specialist. No one here is trained, and even if they were they would find it hard to give you an accurate opinion without seeing it. Make a list of questions, and bring them with you.

How do you post pictures on this site???????

    Heh, just kidding.

Thanks Fajitas - I guess you were young when you got it done so you dont have any opinions on before / after.

Right, I am not looking for medical advice, I basically want to know if the people who got it done are:

    1/ Happy with the result.

2/ Have no regrets after all it is non reversible.

3/ Still have their banjo string and what is it attached to since the 20% of the foreskin is removed.

There are creams that you can get that allow the skin to expand. Go to your GP and ask for a referral to a specialist.

    Banjo Boy...
had the op when I was 17 - sounds like same problem as yourself. Stretching did not help. Creams/stretching do not help in all cases especially if the foreskin is as tight as you describe.

I am definitely happy with the result (no more pain!), have absolutely no regrets (I believe the 'loss of sensitivity' issue is way overblown, mainly by people who have not had the op, or had it when they were very young and didn't experience sex before the op).

My banjo string is still there but this may not happen in all cases - check with your doctor. Obviously check all the above with your doctor. The op wasn't particularly painful - small bit of pain for about 2 weeks until the stitches dissolved & the bandages came off, but easily bearable.

Good luck if you decide to go for it.

I have had it done too since I was ~13 (19 now).

Have definitly been happier since I got it done, it was really messing with me (Thinking I needed to pee all the time among other things). Now, obviously I was a little young to have fully experienced any sexual endeavours but I can tell you that it does still work and feels great!

Just checked for you, and for all I can tell my banjo string is still there!....Just did a quick google search for "frenulum" and now I can definitly confirm it's existance!

Finally, to be honest I do wonder what it would have been like to have some how's your father when it was all there, but it is only when people bring up the point (The links above for example ) that it bothers me. I am definitly happy with what I feel when I do get some 8).

Finally, since you say you need it done, then you would really WANT it done (at least I know I did), so get down to your doctor and talk with him.

i had this op done 4 months ago! im 21 btw... i have had no problems or anything bad as of yet! minw was very very tight so cream and stretching had no effect and was a waste of time!

the op itself was about half an hour and was in and out the same day! out of work for 2 weeks and was very sensitive but was never painful as such(pissing wasnt fun tho)! after 6 weeks was back playin football, cycling and having sex! i had sex b4 the op and it was painful at times but since the op its been so much better than it was back then when there was no pain(no losss of feeling at all maybe even the oppposite)! in the long run you'll prob be glad ya got it done!

I have actually gone through this. My freenulum tore, then again and then again. At this point I spoke to the doctor. THe options were let it keep tearing or get a cercumcision. I decided for the op as there is a lot of blood involved in a tear and you can scare the hell out off somebody and I did. THe mixing of blood beeing a bad thing in sex and the like. I was 21 when I had the op, there is scare tissue and effectively mine is additionally ribbed (for her pleasure) and two different colours as a result(pinker on the former covered bits). Your tip looses sensitivity as a result too as it is no longer covered all the time.

Had partners before and after and got no complaints and weirdest thing was only one noticed a change (out of 3). One girl was fascinated by the scaring. I am guessing the older you are when you get it done the more noticable.

THe amount of blood that can be seen on a bad cut when most of your blood is being pumped there will ruine any night. Long story but the sufice to say when you leave a party with a screaming lady in the room behind you and you have blood alover your pants people think the worst of you and you get a reputation which can be good and bad.

I have lived like it is for 10 years now and it is more noticable than less which is still a surprise

Thanks all - seems that only positive results are the outcome.

I will go to a specialist and if I am referred for an op, I will post the results before / after for the benefit of anyone in the same situation.
