The PokerStars World Cup of Poker is a worldwide competition between national teams of poker players that pits team vs. team and country vs. country, players from all around the world competing with national pride, bragging rights, and $200,000 cash on the line.

1st round robin game vs germany is on in 15 mins if any railbirds are interested in supporting. My brother and mate are both in the team.

Ireland Vs Netherlands is on at the moment, about five minutes into it and the chap from cobh has 500 in front of him, dont know what happened but he's a five to one chip 'dog.


Rooney_DIVES has won his match but the chap from cobh has lost his one, the lad from kildare is on about 2300 in chips and the fourth match is dead even.

We have to play the frenchies or maybe the dutch in a playoff to reach the finals in barcelona. Even though we lost to the frenchies we'd be better of playing them rather than the dutch cos the dutch have a very strong team.
The playoff will happen within the next few days I think.

Yeah there were qualifiers I think. Irregular boards poster ROONEY_DIVES is captain of the team as he was the highest ranked Irish player on the TLB. I think the top two TLB players qualify as do 2 FPP qualifiers.

Rooney_dives was the 2nd highest Irish player on the TLB.

I was the highest, I said i would play but did'nt want to be Captain,
Pokerstars then made a mistake & asked the 3rd TLB to play.

Playoff vs France ended up 2-2

Team captain Rooney_Dives played Real-Nic from France in a very tense playoff and maintained his unbelievable 100% 8 out of 8 record in the competition. That included 5 round robin matches against team captains (usually highest ranking stars player from each country) and 3 tense playoffs.

Great all round team performance considering the pressure of the situation by the guys and be nice to see if they can produce it for the country on TV!!

Already there with Ireland are Iceland (beat Norway), England (beat Wales) and Israel (beat Spain), remaining games tonight (Brazil vs Venezuela), (Canada-alberta vs South Africa), (USA-Arizona vs USA-Carolina), (Hungary vs Poland)

Gotta say as no2 in the team ive been a bit of a passenger, but dont
under estimate just how awesome Rooneys performance has been over the past couple of weeks.
8 matches 8 wins (3 as high pressure play-offs) AWESOME.
These were all against top opposition.
Super performances by luckysod and dawns7up all the way thru.
Lookin forward to playin live in barcelona and reckon we have every chance there as i certainly prefer live play and know rooney to be an excellent live player.
Thanks to the boardies who have supported us thru the qualifying stages.
Congrats and well done again to rooney, dawn and lucky.

WP all and congrats. Best of luck in Barca. Rooney you need to put pen to paper and write a book on heads up play. I dont know of one out there.
