theres the roost,bradys/clockhouse/b2,the SU bar, caulfields, the LA, and the glenroyal/"club fizz"/some cocktail bar.
3 of them have nightclubs, plus the SU has bar-exs a fair bit. Most places are busy enough. SU on monday is packed, because drinks cost 3 euro. Thursday in b2/roost are very busy. And so on.

Plus, if you join any(fun) clubs or socs, they will usually have night time events like parties, games, poker, etc.

There is also a fair amount of house parties, especially among the first years :)

grrrrr.....*grudgingly hugs everyone in the cult*

Yes Maynooth is a lovely place, full of pubs and clubs, chippers and the occassional brawl but well, boys will be boys.We have prayer groups and support groups and you'll always find a friend in Maynooth. What a sense of community?!....noone gets hungry and as the the sun sets behind the big rock candy mountain(they always omit this from the prospectus, trade secret),I can't help but think about how much i love ever................................................................................................................

You'll find the house parties a lot more fun than the pubs I think.

Seen a good few fights in my time. One was so classic I wish I had it on camera. The LA just closed on New Years so everyone was outside. I mean there were about 20 or 30 guys in check shirts at LEAST outside the LA. Just thought it was funny none of them was bothered by the shirt thing. Anyway I went under the arch to get an Express Cab and when it drove around past the LA again, ALL of the lads were kicking the **** out of eachother.
So predictable but so ****in funny to see.

Howdy Clarebear, what you up to these days?

The trick with B2 is to go up there before 11:00 as they tend to shut the doors after 11:30 it gets so busy.

Had to hop the gates round the back one night, but i must have been seen as they put higher fencing around it the next time i tried!

It might help if you could start with spelling Finance right....;)

Good for you though, you should definitely go for it if you really want to. Might see you around during the summer so....no broken bones this time I hope! ;)

Maynooth is brilliant, the various pubs and clubs were mentioned above and one or two of them are consistently packed and good craic. I only know one person who was disappointed by Maynooth, but he came around by the end of the year. Maynooth ROX!

Was a bit sceptical of Maynooth when I came into it for first year, but now 2years on I have to say its the best craic ever, B2 and The Roost are very cool niteclubs as is fizz, personally its B2 all the way for me!!

And yes the 66 is brilliant for all the gigs etc u cud ever want to go to in Dublin, so I say come on down to Maynooth.....its cool :D

Yes but should we really impose on the squirrel population like that, I mean they can't cry but yet they die and that is the greatest pain.

Sorry but I don't think Maynooths nightlife is that great, in fact lots of people think so. It reminds me of going out at home it's got the whole small town thing going on, same faces and same "craic". I've found in my 3years here that the people who enjoy it most haven't really socialised before coming here so it's freedom!! I much prefer Dublin which is a def plus about going to Maynooth.also, I found Maynooth devoid of any real music scene so to speak and as a rocker its a bit of a letdown!
Just telling ya what I think!

    Ahhh (;) ). O.K. Candypants.

    I pooed the machinist.....

Yeah there might be a sense of social underdevelopment and Gaeltacht appeal but thats more fun than being some kind of social snob.
It's like a mature lady who envies ditsy young blondes in one virgin girls journey through sexual exploration and the urge that just couldn't be satisfied.

She lay on a cotton towel in her front suburban garden with her oiled skin slowly tannin in the bright sun.Jennifer had yet again forgotten to buy that new bikini she now so badly needed and when the ice-cream truck rolled down her street she had no option but to meet it displaying all her perfection. She innocently longed for the young man's creamy sweetness but as her more primal urges filled her once more, the music that emminated from the truck seemed to become sleazy but sensual. Strangely , no children lived in the quiet cul-de-sac yet every evening that summer, that relentless chime rang in the ears of Jennifer and she knew it was time to play.

It's not that dead during the summer, look at B2 at the weekend, always packed.

Jesus it sounds like Maynooth hasn't changed since I left there in 1988!

How the hell can a town with a population that has expanded as much as Maynooth's has get by on virtually the same amount of pubs there was when there were 1500 students and a handful of housing estates around the town?

But anyway, it was a great 4 years from 84-88 and if it's the same now I'd highly recommend it.

So, I take it ders lots of people going out monday18th then. Although my plan was to stop going out on Mondays this year, I think two days is enough.

there are somethin like 6000 students in maynooth but you'll see the same 20 out every night

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 719 ✭✭✭Vangelis

The same 20 every night? Wow, so not all 6000 students are out getting insensibly drunk, fooling about with dubious members of the opposite sex, getting high on their own youthful foolishness and merrily apprehending bloody fights between immature boys who shouldn't be in college at all?

    YAY!

I hope it lasts. For the academic reputation of NUI Maynooth.
