Company called Typetec, Calmount Park, Ballymount. They are Apple resellers. I know of one person that got it fixed there.

typetec no longer fix ipods, actually they never fixed ipods they just sent them back to apple, you can have it repaired/replaced by apple by following the directions on the support section of the website, and all mactivate do is return them to apple also under warranty, afaik they wont touch non warranty ipods.

    They claim to repair them:
If you have and iPod giving you trouble we can repair it for you or facilitate the repair via Apple.
We service all iPods from the Generation 1 to 5.

It depends whats wrong with the ipod. If it the battery Maplins sells a range of replacement batteries for all types of ipod. Other than that you have to buy apples warrenty and get them to repair it. I bought an Ipod back in 2004 in Florida. It died in 2005 but was within the warrenty period. I contacted Apple and they sorted out the return for me.

    Hope that helps..

My iPod is just out of warranty, and water-damaged... is my only option to send it back to Apple? I've looked into it and with the price, I'd nearly be better to just buy a new one.

If your IPOD is OOW and water-damaged there's no point sending it back to Apple. If it's not a Video or a Nano use this as a chance to UPG - imo

Just to point out, Maplins in Dublin stock a battery with the plastic wedges needed to remove the back cover, not for the faint hearted, but the over-the-counter price isn't too bad, under 40 euro.

The battery is slated as higher capacity than the default iPod one, not sure of the specifics though. They have more than one version, possibly for different generation of iPod.
