Network printing problem

I'm having trouble printing to two network printers from a Windows 98 computer. When I install them they can print fine until a reboot. Then they can see the printer's queues (they know the number of documents in the queue) but can't print (even a test page). Without rebooting I changed the printer setting so it was printing to a virtual lpt which pointed at the network printer and they printed fine but then after a reboot they stopped printing again.

The printers are plugged into Windows Server 2003, one is a HP laserjet 4050 and the other a HP 6122 colour inkjet. There are no problems printing from other computers and it worked from this before.

Are there any lower level drivers I could reinstall, any TCP/IP registry keys I might delete?

Though I'm not sure if it's a registry thing, I made a backup of the registry after a sucessful print and restored it in autoexec on next reboot.
