But...but...ok I'll agree with you to some extent on Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Green Day and The Killers but the rest, no way. Did you just put up that list to try and annoy someone like me?

Led Zeppelin have influenced every decent rock band ever since. Every single famous rock guitarist cites Jimmy Page as an influence, even more so than Hendrix or anyone else. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Yay, someone articulate who'll make a point so that I can go "Yeah, what he said".

    Yeah, what he said.

Somehow i don't think we should listen to the musical ramblings of someone who recently played the 'Chicken Little' soundtrack and Pat Shortt 'The Breakfast Roll Song'!

If ya wanna take a few songs I enjoy listening to and just judge by them, fair enough. I've told ya what I like and Don't like. If you disagree, ah well.

I would definitly consider all of them, especially Trivium - i just wanna punch that singer guy, what is he doing - loser.

I think alot of the music in your list is great, i love black flag, but you cant say led zep is crap/over rated. I can see why you dont like them, because it doesnt stir something up inside you that gives you the feeling that you want out of music, but alot of other poeple like their music because they can see the work that goes into it, other than screaming into a mic and hammering on the same 4 chords for the whole song.

1: Bon Jovi - terrible, just terrible
    2: Trivium
3: Fallout Boy.. No wait, i put the whole Emo genre in here(except fugazi)
    4: Slipknot - personal reasons.
5: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - i dont like ugly whores on stage who think they are great and cant sing.
    6: HIM
    7: Bjork
8: cant think of anymore, ill add later
    9:
    10:

I think eveyone who posted Westlife and so on are confusing them with bands who actually made it in the music biz.

    Some legends in that band.
The guy that samples from horror movies is great. :)

I've seen alot of joeys drumming, and his warmup videos from the vic firth site are very impressive. I think he is the only tallented musician in the band and the only chap i can bare to listen to. I think everything that they have put out is really really bad, and it doesnt apeal to me in any way - it just makes me feel miserable when i listen to them. There was one song(slips my mind what its called) and the video for it is all the slipknot boys in a room with their masks on the ground 'rockin' out. thats the only song that ever remotly interested me. Other than that, i cant see what the attraction to them is other than a prepubesant teen wanna be image to display misery. most of the people i know who like them are just attention seekers who claim they dont want attention. the fact is that the people i know who like them have tried to cut their wrists at a point in their life. Thats not what music is about to me. Music is to take you away from aspects of your life, hence when im sad i listen to something like queens of the stoneage - song for the deaf. the song gives a morbid intro, but the main verse of the song is nothing but an uplift. Not lyric wise, but thats the emotion that the chord progression gives to me. Music should lift you up, put you in a mood for something constructive be it Mr. Nasty time with the Bird, A night in with the lads, a Session, hangin out what ever. Music shouldnt put you into depression, which is what to me that band is all about.

    Really? Why?

I cant put my finger on it karl honest. Shes done some great work with PJ Harvey(im a big fan)... just nothing works for me with her... maybe it was harsh putting her on my list, so ill take her off... but i wouldnt buy her album, nor would i listen to it on a regular basis. Just sometimes i feel her voice is a bit over powering

    Joey is indeed excellent.

Well, ok that's your opinion, no need to argue against it but I can only think of one of their songs that makes me sad. Danger - Keep Away.
Oh and Vermillion pt 2. But I have to be sad anyway for them to be saddening.
When happy, all music is happy for me.
There was one song(slips my mind what its called) and the video for it is all the slipknot boys in a room with their masks on the ground 'rockin' out. thats the only song that ever remotly interested me.
Before I forget, tis good enough. :)
Other than that, i cant see what the attraction to them is other than a prepubesant teen wanna be image to display misery. most of the people i know who like them are just attention seekers who claim they dont want attention. the fact is that the people i know who like them have tried to cut their wrists at a point in their life.
well, my friends aren't emos. :) used to hate Slipknot too, just dismissed them as probably crap. Saw them live and was blown away. Not my favourite band by a long shot but best live performance out of them all.
You shouldn't judge a band by who likes them at all.
The more I learn about the the more I like em.
Anyway, diff strokes for diff folks. I find the newest vert.lbum appeals to a lot of people that hate them so I use that to convert. ;)

Music shouldnt put you into depression, which is what to me that band is all about.
If that is what they are like to you then fair enough. :)
Music is what you make of it.
I do find that most music is depressing though, in general.

U2 aren't a crap band. That's all there is to it. They're just not.
Maybe people are just saying it coz they don't like Bono or coz they're trying to be controversial, well fine I've taken the bait.

In all fairness, they are pritty bad. The Edge is a terrible guitar player, the bass chap doesnt know what an octive is, and the drummer cant find his way out of a 2/4 beat. So in reality the way you think people think u2 are crap is wrong. You cant be controversial when it comes to tallent, you can either play the guitar or you cant. Im kinda bored of hearing the edge playing the same 3 notes through a song with a delay pedal, it might work for you, but i like variety in my life.

I think they come up with good ideas for songs, and they put them togeter alright, but theres more to a band than just that in most peoples eyes, thats probably why they got that wrap. Another point, which im sure most people will agree on is that if u2 started from the start at the age they are now they wouldnt get very far at all.

Never the less, im proud to have them as an irish band, they do have some good songs, and they put us on the map, but they are very over rated.

Ok, they are probable overrated but they're not one of the ten worst bands ever.

CottonEyeJoe should be up there somewhere near the top methinks.

It's a pity U2's recent couple of albums have ruined their reputation. They are cheesy and rubbish. But Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Rattle And Hum and Achtung Baby are still four of the best Irish albums ever. And I don't think there are many other bands in the world who have been that consistent over four albums in a row.
