    Hi,

If you had an unlimited budget, what would you put in the perfect job website?

Below is on my list -
    • No agency jobs (or at least, very little agency jobs)
    • Easy to use website
    • Configurable website
    • Accurate job alerts (jobs by e-mail)
    • Jobs listed are from every jobsite
    • A "my jobs" section which includes jobs I'm interested in from every jobsite
    • I can tell whether the employer has received my job application or not
    • The website does not feel overly "corporate"
    • It's free for jobseekers (of course!)

Can you think of anything else? Or do you disagree with any of my points?

I don't know how well it works in practise, but I like the monster.ie idea where you can self rate your skill-sets and technologies making it a lot easier for employers to search for suitable candidates.

The standard of sites on the internet are shocking for job seekers.
I think the search function is really important. There are elements of most job sites that are good but certain aspects let each site down.

I like the filter options on the FAS site. For instance you can pick several locations while eliminating other options automatically. I haven't seen this on any other job site. Also selecting job categories is easiest on this site.
    Search isn't great though.

www.jobs.ie is my favourite. Best navigation, simple. Search is accurate. However searching multiple locations is not a possibility.

www.loadzajobs.ie is terrible and I don't like monster because its messy.
Drop down menus limit the scope of search big time and I don't always want my search that narrow.

Agency jobs should definetly be included. BUt a filter on agency jobs should be there.
Points 2,3, and 8 that you made here are all about the design and navigation of the site. This attracts jobseekers and employers to post on the site. This coupled with the search/filters/email alerts and their accuracy will determine the success of the site.

I agree with all the other points you made but if you were going about actually designing this website taking jobs from every other site would be illegal surely?

    I always use www.irishjobs.ie or www.gradireland.com

    Find them the most user-friendly.

What I don't like about it is you can get the same job listed by 10+ agencies. It realy slows you down when doing a search for something specific

    Not a fan of jobs.ie,nixers.ie or monster.ie

    That's my opinion anyway

I like the feature on the FAS site, I have to say and as mentioned above I haveent seen it on any other site thus far.
I would use the FAS site a lot more because of this feature-if only more companies/agencies advertised on it.

Realjobs.ie tried that a while back. The site is still up and when you visit it you will notice it has the grand total of 0 jobs.

If I have a pet hate it is multiple listings from one agency - just incase I miss the first, second, third... :rolleyes. The other that tends to get me is when every agency under the sun ends up advertising the same job. In my niche I think there are about 3 or 4 jobs being advertised, until recently when irishjobs must have done a ass kicking(?) there were 3 pages worth.

My other requirement would be to have linkable searches, so I can create a shortcut and rerun the link without having to go thru' all the carp. The fas website doesn't allow this so it has to be navigated every time.

    D.

One thing I like about Monster is the ability to create a Profile and then a search within it ie "Dabreno searching for IT in Galway city" and save it. That profile will then send an email to you each time new jobs are added to your search.
