Can anyone tell me is the heatsink on a dell dimension 8300 a standard size heatsink that i can easily replace with one i buy in a shop?I know dell hate people changing stuff so it wouldn't surprise if they used some odd size heatsink.

its a standard size as from what I can check here. Exactly what Dell computer are we talking about? Dimension, Optiplex etc

But I dont think you would have a problem

Its a Dimension 8300 bought nearly 3 years ago.

Looks standard but its held by plastic clips that look like they'll need to be cut off.

Dont think so, as far as I remember they use different mounting holes.
