does break falls work on cement like a pavement???

Anytime I do break falls on a mat, I would what is the point...
how can they work... slapping concrete full blast would break
    my hands???

Well you should not slap with your hands. Its usually your forearms that you use take some of the impact and only in cases where you would crack your scull otherwise. The main thing is to relax. You see that approach with Kimura vs Gracie when Gracie knew he was going to be throwen so he just shifted his weight and relaxed.

It also includes rolls etc. If you google for Parkour you see they use rolls when they are landing from a great height.

I like the old WWII way myself. As you fall back you roll into a ball, tuck your head and arms in and veer to the side slightly.

Then get up with your sten gun and have a pop at jerry? Then it's home with the lads on the next transport to blighty for a pint of ale having given Fritzy what for?

To be fair there is more to breakfalls than slapping your hand. It's about transferring momentum more than anything else.

Yeah, I'd prefer to break fall onto cement than just fall onto cement.

Could'nt agree more with you mate. I had to do a PLR after a malfunction once:eek: Hit the groud with quite a thump, but it saved me from serious injury. It worked then, so I believe it would work in a street confrontation.

Hi, yeah made a bad exit, ended up with my legs caugh up in the lines. Managed to deploy about 700ft. This type of hight is very low to deploy, and a reserve chute is smaller, so you come in at a different angle and faster, hence the thump when I landed. But as they say any landing you can walk away from is a good one. Hope that explains.

Because it can be done, it adds a bit of interest to life, why not?;)

Now are you talking about parachuting or jumping off a roof, because I think he's talking about the video?

    Hi,

Maybe a bit of both, don't think I would try that now, but twenty years ago I was more open to suggestion:D I would like think I'm a tad more mature now. But each to their own eh?
