Even better price (and better software):

    Anti-Virus:
    www.grisoft.com

    Firewall:
    www.zonelabs.com

What do you mean? Are there free versions available that are as effective as Nortons, McAffee etc?

Are the alternatives (that can be mentioned) as comprehensive as the well known ones?

Trying to figure out what the alternative altenatives are....

Try a Google search, usually works !. Although personally I use Zonelabs Pro (Reasonable fee) + the free anti-virus AVG ;) .

In fairness, McAfee/Symantec have a great reputation, and track record. The only problem is they offer ' a number ' of different packages, and if you want to protect your PC properly, these Anti-Virus deals
are not enough ?... you really need the full 'Security package' and I do not believe the 7dayshop offer or the 6 months free offer are the best they offer, although you will have to pay a premium for their Pro quality products, which do not regard - Anti-Virus- as their primary purpose.

I would advise anyone to go direct online to McAfee or Symantec or Zonealarm and check 'exactly' what you are getting for your money ?..and which package will satisfy your personal requirements !.

I have already stated what I personally use.

    Good luck.
