    Guys,

Do any of you own classics. If you do then read on. This Sunday 7th May I am organising a get together. The idea is to get together at the Spawell Car park on the Tallaght Bypass at 11.45 in the morning. We will then go for a spin out to Blessington at noon and stop off for a beverage in Ballymore Eustace, returning to the Spawell for approx 14:00. There are already a number of people interested in coming along and I plan to make this a regular excursion every second Sunday from different starting points. The next run will be on 28th May starting from the Playwright on Newtownpark Avenue Blackrock at noon.

The idea is to get people out driving their classics. Nothing fancy, just an opportunity to meet like minded people and get out and drive the cars.

I'll post more details of later runs if you guys are interested. As I said above, this is for everyone who appreciates or drives classic cars. Just come along for the craic and take some time out to enjoy your classic and chat to others of a similar breed!!

If you need further details then email me at phelanpa@eircom.net.

    Hope to see you there.

    Paul.

Great, see you there with a bit of luck. I'm hoping for good weather too - soft tops are not great fun in the rain!!!

    Cheers,

    Paul.

damn damn damn I'm in Belfast at the weekend otherwise I'd have come along - it's great seeing all different cars together rather than 30 of the same type

I saw 2 BMW 2002s I think it was when I was going by there on my way to training, around a quarter to 11 though.

    Guys,

There were eight cars out which was great given the lack of notice and it was the first run.

the cars that came out were:
    BMW 2002 Turbo
    Fiat Dino Spider
    Porche 911 (1969?)
    Mustang x 2
    Fiat 124 Spider.

One of the guys turned up in a beautifully presented BMW 3.0 Saloon but could not come out on the run due to time pressures.

Another guy came out in his 1970 Mercedes but unfortunately did not make the meeting point, saw us driving down the road when he was heading the other way, managed to turn around but we were gone. He was not sure where exactly we were heading so had to head home again. He will be out, with directions on the next run.

It was a nice mix of cars and that is the idea. Those that turned up liked the idea of driving the cars also rather than having a static show. We went out to Ballymore Eustace, parked the cars in a line right opposite the Cafe Bar that we sat outside enjoying the beautiful sunshine.

There will be eight cars out at least for the next run plus I have a good few promises from guys that are dusting down their cars to take them out of the garage so I'm hoping the numbers will grow.

Next run is on Sunday 21st May leaving from the Playwright on Newtownpark Avenue in Blackrock at noon. I hope to see some of you there. If you need directions drop me a mail at phelanpa@eircom.net.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

I should be at the next run...is it ok if I come in my 1991 Mini Cooper? I know technically it's not classed as a classic but it has been modified to look like a 60s Cooper!

No problem youngfella. Bring it along, looks good. The only requirement for those attending is that you appreciate classics.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

The Merecedes Club did a run around Wicklow on the Saturday and ended up at the Ballymore Inn. Nice restauraunt and great roads for Classic motoring !

Hehe, that was me :-) Don't wanna miss the next run again, Paul, so could you give me a hint where exactly i find the Playwright on Newtownpark Avenue?

It a huge thatched roof pub on the right hand side half way up Newtownpark Avenue from Blackrock.

OR, on the N11, turn left at stillorgan, down carysfort ave till T juction, turn right and then left 100 yards up, can't miss it. Am I right in thinking that the Blessington show is on that day, might be an idea to join up and cruise in style up to that.

The Playwright is on the corner of Newtown Park, and Newtownpark Avenue.
I suggest get yourself onto Carysfort Avenue from Blackrock, or Newtownpark Avenue from the N11. :)

Is this near Dublin? If so I'll bring the Jag.

Thanks for the map Athiest. For those of you that are unsure an easy way to get there is off the M50. When heading southbound on the M50 come off at the Leopardstown exit. Continue straight through the roundabout at the top of the sliproad. You will come to another roundabout. Take the exit at approx 2 o'clock and continue down past the entrance to the Leopardstown racecourse. You will come to a dual carrigway (Stillorgan dual carrigway) aka N11). Continue straight across the dual carrigway and you will be going down a big long hill. This is Newtownpark Avenue. The Playwright is down a good bit on the left hand side at traffic lights. You can't miss it.

    See you there.

    See you there,

    Paul.

I can only assume this was rained off?

There were literally rivers of water running past my house on Sunday noon.
If there was one day this year not to take out the old girl - it was yesterday.

    :(
