    Hi all,
There is a new Harvey Norman opening in Limerick on Sat next.I was just wondering: Those of you who have shopped there before in other parts of the country - what do they have that is especially good value? I know they have specials at different times (I've heard those bloody radio ads enough times!), but for things like DVD-Rs, Divx-players, Garden tools, any recommendations? In ye're experience, are there any items you specifically go there for? Whats their after-sales service like?

    :)

there not bad, just don't buy a PC from them as there way too overpriced for the spec you get.

They had a 12% off sale yesterday :o
As with most shops, check your prices carefully.

They should have some good opening offers there if it's like any of the
    other stores they have opened.

Can't say I'm too happy with them... indifferent staff...never seem to have what I want.... in short.... plenty of roarin and shoutin but precious little substance.

Don't think they do garden tools though.

I bought a PC off them - wasn't happy with it - brought it back as the noise off the fan was very loud and considering it was a mulitmedia pc you'd have to have to volume up quite high to drown it out. Was told it was a powerful PC and needed a big fan. Rang PC maker helpline and had to hold the phone up to the pc - the said HM were talking bull and that I should bring PC back and demand a new one or money back. I did the latter, and they still weren't happy, then they offered to "look after" me on the price of a laptop. The offered me a few bag with it!!!

    Haven't been back.

There's absolutely nothing cheap about Harvey Normans. Anything they sell can be bought elsewhere cheaper!

When I was shopping for my iRiver about 2 years ago, it was €460 in HN, which was by far the cheapest and worth the little bit extra it cost then to get it online. The next time I saw the price for the same player in HN, it was higher:eek: I've since seen their prices on other items and they seem to be a rip off. If somebody opened a shop where prices and service were as good as you could find online, they'd have a great business, word of mouth is a big seller for a retail shop, if all the people who shopped online knew it could be got for the same price roughly, in a retail shop, I'm sure they would buy in the shop. More customers, slightly less profit margin=more overall profit.

Harvey Norman were selling a Plasma for 4,500, I bought it a week later for 2,700

I will never trust their pricing again after that

Tres expensive! They are not cheap by any standards for anything.

However! They have some pretty good furniture bargains if you go down to the bargain corner in the left hand side of the shop. I picked up a nice 3 seater leather settee for about €800, reduced from €1600 because of a barely visable nick in the leather.

    Otherwise, I wouldn't touch 'em.

I have shopped in the HN in Swords - dont think it is cheap.

HN stores are not really in the 'Value' end of the market.

They do - buy now pay nothing for 2 years schemes and interest only finance deals which are very popular right now..
