Simply Updating the BIOS Question

I've ordered my Asus A8N-SLI Premium mobo and it's on the way. I want to put an AMD64 4200 x2 on the board and it says it says that I should update the BIOS to the latest version. I've spent the last hour reading the manual for the board and it keeps making reference to booting and installing the new bios from a floppy disk. I have no intentions on building this new machine with a floppy drive (I have no need for one, I hate them).

My question is, can I simply put the new BIOS and utilities on a CD instead and boot from that. I don't plan on backing up the original BIOS, so I don't need write access to media. Or is it a case that you need a floppy disk/drive when updating the BIOS?

My guess is that you don't, but I'm not 100%, so this is why I ask ;)

When building a new machine in this day and age is there any reason why I would need a floppy drive?

Ah crap sorry, I've just found the answer....the Asus Update which runs in Windows lets me even update the BIOS directly from the net.

    Appologies :o
