Tesco Value Ink for printers

Just thought I would share a great deal I came across....

Having always been suspicious of refilling cartridges, I was strapped for cash recently and "invested" in colour and black tesco value ink refill kits. Tesco are currently offering 2 for 1 on black so for about 15euro I got 6 bottles of black and 1 each of yellow, magenta and cyan.

I have a cheapo Lexmark Z515 that I use for docs and the odd photo (not too bad!). The printer cost me 39.99 and the 2 official inks would costs nearly 60 quid!

I have to say I am well impressed with the quality of the tesco brand ink. When you consider the cost its superb value. I printed a few photos since I refilled and I cannot tell the difference from the offical inks.

Well worth a look, although I hear they are only good in certain types of printers. Works like a treat. Pack says enough for 6 refills, but I rekon about 10 :)

Lol... why is the thumb pointing down then?

Most people will assume the post is going to be about how terrible Tesco's ink is! ;)

i recommend this ink too, dirt cheap, cheaper than getting it professionally refilled and i found it was mildly a bit more clearer than the Epson ink I buy!

Anyone tried em in a HP Photosmart 1000?

I was bit confused about the downwards thumb as well.

That's a great find. I wonder would they work in a HP officejet 4200 series?

I have seen them in Tesco my self. I have not had the courage to buy them as yet. Cost me 60 euros to replace both cartridges. Recently i got a black inkcartriage from an office supplie shop in waterford there own brand and i saved around 30 euros on that one ink cartriage alone.:) I won't be buying HP cartriages the next time hopfully.

Could someone edit the OP's post to remove the "thumbdown", save the confusion of people reading this.

I never tried refilling cartriges before but we do have a cheap HP Deskjet printer, it would certainly be nicer to refill the cartridges rather then paying 35 for a black and nearly 70 for a colour cartridge.

I think I will get a laser printer instead, expecially for all the b/w stuff I would be printing off for college.

They worked for me in a HP Deskjet 3845, no complaints. If the print quality looks bad after refilling (e.g lines of fainter print across the page) try gently dabbing some of the cleaning fluid on the printer cartridge head and letting it dry off.

One thing about my HP Deskjet 640c you have to buy a special cartridge for printing photos :confused:

Dont buy inkjet printers. Why do u think there only 30 quid to buy. Buy a laser printer. Yes they are more expensive but you change your toner once every 9 months for me thats abt 3000 pages. Lnk jets rip u off and r crap. U dont need colour

relax, my inkjet was a hell of a lot more than 30 euro, and i need colour, and a laser would not do the job i want.

I have a Hewlett Packard 1220C inkjet since 2002. (Colour/A3). I use it for Autocad drawings and the usual word documents etc. It cost me £200 sterling at the time but has been a great investment. I bought a refill kit in Safeway a couple of years back and have been regularly filling my own cartridges since. No problems.

i have a lexmark x1150 multifunction inkjet that needs a bit of top up in ink. don't fancy buying 2 cartridges for 60 euro! would the Tesco ones do the job?

I have a Canon I560 which i bought in Dec 03, good printer however I find it to be slow when set to high quality, however anything lower than this and the quality isn't worth it. Anyway I ran out of Magenta Ink today. I bought one of those Tesco Ink-refill kits about 2 or 3 months ago when I bought my last cartridges there. Anyway I followed the instructions and filled the Cartridge and I find the quality to be better than the Tesco Brand re-manufactured cartridges i have been using now for about a year. I forget what the original Canon quality is like it is so long since I used one!

It was my first time ever filling a cartridge, and it went well, except having got a bit on my hands. Pink to make the boys wink  not nice. Anyway the only gripe i had was the sh*te drill, I would be still here if drilling by hand, I but it into my electric drill chuck and drilled it at a low speed for about 5 seconds. The rubber plug was not too hard to put in either. Has anyone here ever used the Ink Refills from Aldi? I saw them there about two months ago. Cheap as chips.

Thumbs up for the Tesco Refill kit from me anyway.

I use it on my Pixma 3000.
    Dirt cheap and very good.
    I Highly recommend it.
The Tesco ink is good too,I used that before I discovered this stuff.
