Was just wondering if anybody had used this player or heard any reviews: video/audio quality etc? With a couple of large SD memory cards it could be a cheaper alternative to the MAX player just announced.... Also, I'd imagine the MAX HDD would be a hefty drain on the DS battery.

It's not going to be that much cheaper: even a 2gig SD card would pop the price up to over 120 bucks. The Max player comes with a 4gig card. But yeah battery drain would be a thing.

i have the compact flash version of that.

its pretty good. but its designed for the game boy advance. that means it only uses one screen, just like gba games.

i'd definately get the 4GB Max Media Player (Datel). The screen shots look nice for it. Video on top screen, controlls on the bottom http://www.lik-sang.com/image.php?category=246&products_id=8731&img=nds-max-4gb-hdd&show=1

But it doesnt look like they've been shipped yet so you should wait to read some proper reviews...

The GBA Movie Player is very good dont get me wrong, but the Datel 4 Gig looks alot better from a dual screen point of view.

Only bad thing is having to bother encoding your mp3's and video to a different format that is playable on the gba/ds. And you can only play NES games that are up to a certain size. E-Book is useless. Its basically a file reader for .txt files.

check this website for more information on them:
