FTA from a Sky Satellite

    Hi,
Hopefully someone will have done this. I have a Sky+ system installed and would like to add a FTA reciever (connected to the Sky dish) in another room, as well as (if possible) a PCI DVB-S card (was thinking about a SkyStar 2) to my PC. What extra equipment do I need and how do I go about installing it (including connecting the box/card to my dish)?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

the easiest solution would be to get a quad lnd.you can get one off ebay for about 20 euro http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/quad-lnb-for-sky-european_W0QQitemZ9720196613QQcategoryZ60838QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
.all you have to do then is run a cable from each lnb output to your digibox, fta reciever and ss2 card.to make most out of a fta reciever though i would get a seperate dish with a motor.

Yep, as Mossy says, he has most likely got a QuadLNB already, since he has Sky+

So you'll just need to run 2 new coaxial leads from the dish - 1 to the FTA box and one to the PCI card. It might be an idea to get a second hand Sky digibox with a UK FTV card, to unlock Ch4, five, and Sky Three as well as allowing stuff like BBCi and other interactive stuff (which won't work on standard FTA boxes).

Make sure the cable you use is CT100 type (copper braid, copper foil), or equivalent. Avoid that RG6 muck.
Then you're all set to go.

is it possible to connect one of the lnb's to the standard aerial connection going into the house? i.e. so i can hook my pc into the wall socket and get fta channels?

Not good enough cable. You'll create lots of interference to others and have problems on some channels.
