Hey folks, it's that time of the year again...

I got a mail from the organisers saying they're trying to get started on the list of exhibitors for this year's show. Seeing as you lot are such attention seekers :p I thought you'd be interested...

For those that haven't heard about it, it's an annual public photo exhibition on Stephen's Green's railings held at the end of August. A slot costs just €15 for 2 days. And you are allowed to sell ;)

That URL doesn't work for me Benster.

Jools - are you just clicking on it? Works ok for me. Try typing in just "www.peoples-photography.com" into your address bar.

That link goes to a page that shows how to enter for the 2005 event

    "Sat 27th & Sun 28th Aug 2005 All Welcome "

Am I missing the link for the 2006 entry details site ?

Sorry, I just reread the mail I was sent and the organisors are redoing the site now for 2006, so it's not completed yet. However, the idea is still the same. I'd keep an eye on the site for the next week or so, they should have it set up for this year soon.

There's no panic to register just yet, there are usually a handful of free slots even right up until the weekend it's on.

I won't be at it this year as I'll be knee-deep in wedding preparations (getting hitched the week after... )

It looks good - looking forward to this one. I have a funny feeling that they may get more entrants this year as it seems to be getting more exposure. (pardon the pun :).

Might pop a few shots into this myself.

Do you generally go along and stand beside your stuff? I find the prospect exciting and terrifying at the same time.

I think you would do well fajitas because your gig pics are so different from the usual stuff people show at these things.

Hmmm, I don't really think I'd put up gig shots though, it's very rare that someone outside a band would want them!

I'll have a run through what I'll put up beforehand, see which ones would be worth printing up big.

Oh cool...I will definitely check this out! Thanks for pointing this out.

I figure if you get pictures of bands where the people in them arn't that recogniseable, just good pictures of good ol' rock and roll, you might actually sell some/impress as they will very different to most of the other photos on the rails.

Thanks folks. Same to yourself, Jaqian.

I'd love to be at it this year, but I think that, with all the preparation it takes to get a decent looking display, and with all the chaos I just KNOW there is going to be organising the wedding for the next weekend, I would do either one or the other badly. I could live with a crap photo display, but...

I'd advise you all to give it a go (the exhibition that is...!). Get out your best stuff and display it well. It's amazing how folk react to all the different work on offer. It also teaches you a lot about sales and how to reach people. The organisers do emphasise that you're not there primarily to sell, but some folk are just short of putting up counters and tills.

It attracts the pros and the complete beginners, so don't feel that you wouldn't belong. Sometimes it's the beginners who like to talk more about their photography and are more down-to-earth.

And it's usually a great weekend, weather-wise. The first year I did it, I got sunburnt!
