Ok so I won a freeroll tournament and the prize was a 50 + 5 ticket to a sattelite for the celeb poker tourney.

I couldnt play the tournament so gave the ticket to a friend with a 50/50 split if any cash/ticket was won.

He went on to win a 500 + 50 ticket to the celeb poker tourney but he topped up for €50 so this is my question, now that he has invested 50 euro into the ticket and he's going onto play the tournement whats the fairest way of splitting any possible winnings?

    Cheers
    Jeff

Well I think that 25% would be fairest according to what you worked out beforehand. You only staked him for half of the entry fee of the tournament, and you're only entitled to half of that again. So 25% I'd say.

yeah it sounds like you were on 25% of him from the other tournament. So if he cashes here he should give you back either 25% of his prize, or €55 plus 25% of the rest of his prize depending on exactly what you agreed. If you didn't agree anything 25% is fair.

Interesting, I was thinking it would be more around the 40% mark considering on a 500 + 50 ticket split 50/50 i'm putting up 275 and with his topup he's putting in 325

    (275+325) = 600

    (275/600) = 45.8333

    .458333 * 100 = 45%

I will however say i am no mathemetician (you can probably tell by my equation) but does this make any sense?

I dont want to be scabby here, just want the fairest for both of us.

I might have misunderstood your original agreement.

I figured that in the original tournament, you were putting up €55, and getting back 50% of the returns on that investment, and that his €50 was separate.

If you meant that you would have split all the proceeds from the tourney 50-50 (even if say he rebought 4 times) then go with 50-50 for the other one.

it's cost a total of €105 for you to win this seat, of which you paid €55. You seem to me to have agreed to give him 50% of that €55 in return for playing the satellite, so you retain €27.50 of the overall €105 outlaid. This works out at 26.2%, which is what I calculate you should be on from any money your mate cashes for in the main event. Or your €55 back plus 25% of the rest would be fair too.

Unless you agreed otherwise, only the 50+5 tourney counts. This is based on my assumtion that you only did a deal for the 50+5 tourney.

Thus, he staked an extra 50 euro. This means that he owes you the agreed 50% which is 50% from 55/(55+50)*550 = 144 euro or allow you to pay his top-up and then split 50% which is 50% from 550-55-50 = 222½ euro. Logically, he owes you this amount, no matter if he goes on to play the 500+50 tourney or not (and no matter what the outcome is if he plays). However, you both could agree to 're-stake' this towards the next tourney.

surelly this settles it. And second Jazzy_Jeff sounds like he didnt agree to the top up r wasnt asked so why should his % be divided for that?
    thats just unfair!!
THe agreement was 50/50 for the prize so the other guy just can change that if hes agreed to it.

yeah but if his mate doenst top up they may well haev got nothign at all back. give him half the money from the top up and then toss a coin and see who plays the big game or even play heads up for it...

You both agreed 50/50. Thats it.

If he spent €10 or €100,000 on rebuys that has nothing to do with you. You did not agree.

If you both agreed 50/50, thats the way the winnings should be split. Especially if he didn't ask you about a re-buy.
...and he's going onto play the tournement

Mabye you guys should flip a coin to see who plays in the celebrity tournament? Or if you want to let him play, just split the winnings (if any).
