Partitioning an existing hard drive

    anyone know any free, easy ways of doing it?

    You can do it free, or easy, (legally) but not both.

    If you have Windows ME or earlier, you most likely have a utility called FDISK (Fixed Disk) that allows you to partition your hard drive.

    To do that, you'd need to make an MS-Dos boot disk, put Fdisk.exe on it, back up all your stuff, reboot with the floppy, go into Fdisk, delete your primary partition, make a new, smaller primary partition, then create an extended patition taking up the rest of the HD and create logical drives inside that.

    Your other option is to acquire Partition Magic and use that to do your partitioning, much more straightforward, and indeed the only option if you're using Win 2k or XP, but it will cost you.
