Whenever I double click on my D drive it says "The D drive is not formatted, wouldd you like to format it now?" and gives me the option of saying yes or not.I have now installed Xp on my C drive(it used to be on my D drive). Can I now just simply right click on my D drive and format it without any problems whatsoever?

Is there anything on the D drive that you want to keep? If you've lost access to it anyway and there's nothing there then format away. If you don't know why you lost access to it then it could be that the drive is failing. If it is then you're best off binning it as it won't last much longer.

You have Windows on c: right? If so, nothing on d: should matter, especially if d: isn't even working for you. Choose NTFS and leave all the other settings at their default values.
