An Unlocked blackberry in Ireland

I’m in Boston for 6 months and I was given a present of a Blackberry for my birthday.

It was bought off ebay and it came unlocked so I could use my pay as you go sim card! Any blackberry that is bought in America requires it to be bill pay and to have a plan set up. But I presume if you can get them unlocked and put a pay as you go sim in then you can get the net and emailing on it some how!

The phone and txting work on it but I cant get the net and email working on it! There is also instant messaging services like AOL and MSN but cant get them to work either!

    Any suggestions?

The other problem is when I go home to Ireland in September! Even though I may not be able to use the net and stuff on it here does anyone know will I be able to use it when I get home! I’m a pay as you go customer with Meteor so I presume I’ll run into the same problem there! And they do not have any settings for blackberries on there website! I know O2 do blackberries but I’m not sure what you need for that to work.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

You wont be able to get it to work unless you get it, on contract with one of the network providers. Blackberries can only be unlocked by RIM, so I'am a little suprised you got one on EBay. To utilise the email functionality to need to set up a mail redirector. If you looking to get internal corperate mail eg bob@meteor .ie. You need to install a BES to your exchange or Lotus server. If you want to get POP3 Email eg Hotmail.com, Vodafone.ie Etc, Etc. You need to register your details along with BB serial and Bpin on the site. You can not use a BB on RTG. Your best bet is to sign up with O2. Where you can get send and recive as many mails as you like for a score each month
As t stands at the moment your BB is completly useless
