JUst wondering if the compaq listed about does actually use standard ATX mothboards. If so, what would be a good (i.e. cheap) replacement socket 478 mobo for it? A few power cuts seems to have fecked up my friends mobo.

According to their site this is the motherboard used by the S7300UK.

It's a mATX Intel 845GE chipset with 1xAGP slot & 3xPCI slots & used DDR333. It was actually manufactured by MSI under the code name MS-6577. It also came with integrated graphics, sound and ethernet.

So basically that’s what you need.

If you want to keep it the same chipset and try to side step re-installing XP your best bet is to hunt down an 845GE board. If not and you don’t mind re-installing the OS then most of the etailers sell mATX boards like this or this.
