    20 players left in a $15 MTT.
    tournament started with 70 players.
im just over average stack with 17k and villan has 40k.
    blinds are 500, 1000.
UTG + 2 i raise to 4000 with KK. folded round to the villan on the button who smooth calls. everyone else folds.
    flop comes down 9c 8d 6h.
i bet 8000 and the villan moves all in.

whats your move and any comments on play so far?

You call. Tough luck for you if you lost.

    Well played.

your play is fine IMO, and u have to call the bet. He's not bluffing (you have clearly indicated a strong hand) but you are still ahead of a lot of hands he is comfortable with, eg: TT/JJ/QQ or even something like A9. He may well have a set. I could see 88/99 played this way, but you have most of your chips in the middle and a lot of the time your KK will be ahead.

yeah its just the actions of the villain. he is a very solid player and after me showing strength with an obvious overpair bet he is hardly going to bluff. although it is unlikely he had AA he could have hit his set.

You dont have an obvious overpair. You *might* have an overpair, but you might also have AK/AQ or whatever.
He could also have QQ and think he is ahead of AK/AQ/JJ/TT ... etc.
