Not sure if this is the right place so move if need be Mods. My Dell 17' flat panel (2 years old) has stopped working. When I turn it on the screen flashes and then goes blank with the power button flasing every couple of secs where it used to stay constant.Hadn't had a bit of trouble with it before. The woofer from the dell speaker system has been beside it since I got the system but I recently moved one of the speakers that was buried behind my desk nearer to it. Would that somehow have effected it, I moved the speaker away just in case but it hasn't changed, any idea's.

Yes, hadn't touched the connection in months.
Is it a digital or analogue monitor ?

I'm assuming digital, it's a 17 inch flat panel LCD, do they come in analogue?

    Thanks for the responces BTW.

    Yes.

If you haven't touched the connection in months (you don't mention if you've done anything with it since the problem surfaced) I'd try reseating it now.

Are you connected via a white DCI connection or the normal blue VGA connection ? There is a long history of problems with these Dell digital monitors. If you are connecting via the white DCI connection, disconnect that and use the normal blue one instead. This will get you up and going. Depending on what you are doing you won't notice a loss in quality. To get your digital working again go onto the Dell website and dig around in the forums. There are threads with thousands of posts on this issue. There are some patches you can download to get it working again.

The speaker definate does not effect LCD's only CRTs so thats not the problem.

Have you tryed the PC with a different Monitor? He could be a problem with the PC!

Thanks for the replies, it's not the pc I'm using an old crt at the mo. I was using the blue cable, I'll check the dell forum, thanks.

    Hi Tom,

I had this exact same issue when I bought 2 new pcs & monitors from Dell about 2 years ago.. Contacted their tech support at the time and they replaced out both the monitors. id say it must have been a faulty batch at that time cause when I was speaking with Dell it wasnt their first time hearing of the problem.
