When I was in Holland two weeks ago I took the opportunity to do a little portrait photography as I don't have much experience in that area. We went into the local forests and here's a couple of the results I'm most proud of:

And here's one bonus picture of the local area where I grew up:

Hope you like them! Comments and critique more than welcome :D Thanks to my little nephew Youri and mom who were so kind to pose for the pictures.

i love no. 3 , my favorite of them all. the others are all good(the last looks a bit out of focus, could be my crappy monitor tho)

Hehe you're eyes are too good melekalikimaka... it was slightly out of focus indeed. I was hoping it wouldn't show up when reducing the image size

Here's a color sample of #3, I prefer the Sepia tone myself:

I prefer the sepia toned versions to the colour.

I think the colour makes the boy stand out from the background more, but for me a shallower DOF and possibly even darkening the background a little would help the sepia look better.

Oh and I forgot to say, the second one is my favourite...

Thanks for the suggestion on FlickR elven, I tried a square crop but didn't work for me... Talk to Fajitas, he goes nuts when you only mention the words "square crop" to him! :D Hope you like the edited version, I sure do...it's definitely an improvement from the colored original!

    Awww ta, it's lovely.

Great highlights on the people. Did you soften the trees on the left? The don't seem so distracting in this shot.

I think this is even better than the others you posted. :)
