    Does Nero & have that function ??
    What else is there.

    DviX, XviD, Nero Digital are all variants of whats called MPEG4-ASP a video format so roughly they are all the same thing.

    AutoGK, DivX Pro and Nero all output MPEG4-ASP & yes they can convert a DVD, as to which is the easiest well they all have there pro's and con's but Auto-GK is free and relatively easy to use (& they have tutorials on their site).

    Of course you will need something like DVDFab Decrypter to transfer the DVD to your HD first.

    I second autogk.However Dr. DivX is very easy to use but you have to pay for it.

    just one other question lads on the AGK subject

    In the tutorial it has this ---ref selecting an input
    """If you want to encode multiple input files into one resulting AVI you can do it by appropriately naming input files: *_1.vob;*_2.vob etc and selecting just the first one (Extension can be any of supported types apart from AVI). In IFO mode AutoGK automatically selects all VOBs that belong to one vobset.""

    I select a *.vob file from my hd but am not sure if AGK will do the whole film ?
    How do I know if I am in IFO mode as above.? just want to put a full movie in avi format.
    I used shrink to put the files onto my hd.

    thx
    appreciate this.

    What they mean is files that are sequentially numbered will be auto encoded that are part of an .IFO set e.g if you select VTS_01_0.IFO as the input file then it will process;

    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB and so on....

    You should know you've done it right as the movie stats will appear under the output box with the time length of the film just give it a go and it should work.

    Don't use DVD Shrink to transfer the files as;
    a)Its no longer developed which means it CSS stripper fails on some discs.
    b)It's primarily a trans-coder.

    Use DVDFab Decrypter it will transfer the files across properly unaltered just with the protection removed.
