anyone else think that maybe a sub forum to post our images is in order? recently half the posts have been 'check out this' 'heres *insert no.* from the other day' threads. maybe if they were all together it'd be easier to navigate. just throwing it round here before i suggest it. what does everyone think?

isn't this recent upsurge exactly what the photography forum has always been lacking, and what else would go in the main forum... which is usually a ghosttown...

tips, technique, the inevitable 'what camera should i buy', equipment reccommendations. i personally would rather the two seperate, i think there is a fair amount of photo chat that isnt cenered round submitted photos

There are plenty of other discussions that can, and do, take place in the main forum.

I would be in mixed minds about it. It would suit all of us, but could kill the forum. Look at the Arts/Crafts forum for example, used to be alright, not too much, then someone wanted all art history dealt with outside of the art/craft forum...and it died...pretty much!

But as I said, it would suit us down to the ground! I just don't want the forum to grind to a halt!

Photography is photography is photography, my friends. Most of the traffic on this board is "check out my photo!" anyways and moving them would fairly kill off this established forum. So nope.

I'd tend to agree with himself there...

OK, this is my first post here, but I've been reading all the threads since I stumbled upon this place a few weeks ago. I would have to say that in my inexperienced opinion I would keep things the way they are. I enjoy the photo posts mixed with the equipment and technique queries. If it became a real overload where one or the other lost any chance of replies, then sure, but at the moment I find there is a really good balance that you don't find on many other similar forums. I'm normally a lurker, but lurkers have opinions too. As an aside, I have been impressed with some of the quality here. There are some very good photos posted up, and some very good advice has been given, also there are one or two exceptional contributers. Good to see. OK, that's my 2c, back to lurking

What about having a poll on the question.

I do like the discussion element that comes from posting pictures in threads - but I have to say I'd like to have a centralised gallery of some sort that everyone could contribute to, and you can just browse through whenever the fancy takes you. I'm not sure how these forums are actually put together but I used to be a regular on another site that looked like it used the same template/engine/program and there was a built in gallery there. Do we have that function on vbulletin? It could also be used for the competition, with a seperate folder for each month. Just an idea. That way you can post a thread but have a link to your picture in the gallery... and they are all together.
