I really like the first one, #2 is an exercise in aperature and shutter speed but just seem standoutish, I'll pass on #3 as I'm not a people person as a rule and #4 looks nice but could probably use a crop.

    Critique eh Tim? :D

Right, first one, you could have used a lower ISO, I think the grain looks a bit unsightly, though it does give texture. Was that taken in Paul Flynn's yeah?

Second one I like, glad you put this up rather than the B&W version of it.

Third one I have mixed views about. It's very soft, and the only area that jumps into focus is the texture on part of the jeans and jacket, I think if the ring/hand were more the subject it would work better. The colours are very nice in it though, and work well.

The last one is nice, but needs something more in it. I dunno, it needs a tiny bit more than just a sky.

Fajitas - I think you're discriminating against grain too much! Have you had a bad experience that's put you off? ;) I like the grain in the first one, i think if it was just a plain perfectly sharp perfectly smooth it wouldn't have the same atmosphere. But it's always about taste, isn't it...

I like the drops in the second shot, but think the white sky detracts from the image overall. If I view it with the sky off the top of the screen the whole thing looks better, much more contrast and focus on the water.

I would tend to agree that the graininess of the first shot works very well and suggests that the light level was really low.

Maybe! I'm a gig photographer and a painter - Grain isn't a great friend of mine!

I think #2 was posted up before, cos i thought the same thing this time as last. It looks like a whale's tail just before it slaps down. Well it does in my head. Briefly. And i agree with that comment about taking out some sky. Very effective

Cheers Al. First one was actually done with Neopan film, not digital so I couldnt change the ISO. And it was taken in a church actually, I tried a similar shot in flynns but it didnt work for me.

Id tend to agree with you about the hands and that, the focus is a bit off, I like the softness of the photo in general but obviously I would prefer a but more sharpness on the ring/hand.
