What's up with this board?! Nearly everyone seems to be in a metal band! What happened to good ol rock n roll eh?

Writers block... listen to loads of music that is anything but metal. I always find The Talking Heads, Flaming Lips and Velvet Underground start the creative juices flowing when I want to do something differant.

Is this a guitar music problem or are you stumped for lyrics? I'm not a lead guitarist, so I can't help ya there, but lyrics are handy enough to find inspiration for.

I would just spend a few days not thinking about it. As X-SL said, go out with mates or something, listen to new bands, coast along for a while. Inspiration strikes when you least expect it. I'm constantly humming riffs that I make up as I go along, and some people have even got the 'humming riffs' stuck in their heads! Now if only I could play an instrument properly

there is no cure for writers block, all it means is dat u have nothing to say right now. give it time n something will happen to make u pick up a pen and want to write something. dont force it, dont think bout it, just continue as normal til one day ur suddenly writing.
