Since the other thread was drifting off topic a bit, best to start a new one;) Was wondering if any of you can recommend good third party tracks for rFactor?

    also check out here
    http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=227923

There is literally every track out there available [no mondello park tho yet ].
They are all excellent versions too.
What i do is whatever real life tracks i like i 99% of the time find them :)

Have you got latest patch for rfactor?
That comes with new tracks and new cars also.

    Nice one :)
I knew this baby was coming but i was sworn to secrecy :)
I actually provided hundreds of photos for this baby some of which i posted on this forum last year :)

I'm curious how you rate this version of Mondello Park, seeing how you raced there alot, and considered the GTL version spot on. I've never been there myself unfortunately, but like the job, other than the annoying twinkling grass and track textures.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,723 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

The track itself as in actual layout and different gradiants etc is pretty spot on.
The trackside detail is not so good however and not as good as GTL Mondello.
The reason for this is its a conversion of Mondello from Toca race driver 3.
Also the textures compared to other outstanding tracks are poor.
I reckon there will be another version or two soon,i know of a few guys working on one as they asked me for photos.

By the way have you got the A1GP mod?
Its banned from most places because of legal issues,a real shame as i rate it as one of the best rfactor mods with some of the best racing ive ever had.
pm me if you want a link :)

I bought the game yesterday purley because i saw here that Mondello was available. I drove Mondello on monday for the first time and I have to say the mod is acurate, apart from corner 1 which seems longer in the game. Anyone know if a Formular ford 1600 mod is available.

I play the rTrainers as my formula ford ,great fun :)

Check out formular Nippon. For a not so good sim racer like me it has the looks of F1 but much better handling and sounds fantastic, formular ford with a little umph. Glad i found this game, I'd given up on GP legends, couldn't get decent frames, sounded crap and when I decided to give it a go again it wouldn't load.
Rfactor seems to catching GPL for mods and tracks and all the mods I've loaded so far have installers, saves a lot of messing about.Anyway, thanks for the links lads.

Yeah formula nippon is great mod.
For somewhere between nippon and F1 you got to get the GP2 and A1GP mods.

    I haven't seen a1, where do I get it.

    Read above for A1GP :)

finally got rfactor. Quite impressed with all the mods. Craftsman truck around mondello is quite a handful!!!

Gettin 51's on the national in a superkart, so either the track is too short or the kart is too quick or both! (Real life record is 53.39)

It's more likely to be the kart being inaccurate. With GPS you will find that most tracks these days will be pretty much spot on length and shape wise. Quality tends to differ in the textures and topology.

Ack, just when I decided it was time to buy rFactor, their website is acting up !

    No, its defintely the circuit.

    Nippon: 48.795 (7 Laps)
    F1 Champ: 50.217 (6 Laps)
    V8 Buggie: 49.47 (5Laps)

The real-world record is a BOSS F1 car 51s odd.

Okay so the V8 buggie is a bit of a pi$$take, but the times for the nippon espcially are way too quick considering I did 7 laps and had the game about 18 hours or which I played 2.

GPS or not, theres alot of bumps missing, the apex of the 1st corner isnt rough enough, one coming into duckhams, just before the 1st apex, first part of the esses are WAY too smooth and the profile of the last corner seems a bit off. Small things like the exit kerb out of duckhams is wider in RL etc etc.

Its not too bad, just needs some finer details thats all. Its great for the price, FREE!

Souper computer you must remember real world physics are at play in real life not in racing sims.
Ive pretty much broken every real life track record on many sims and many series of racing.

Hell of a difference between throwing a car around a track in a racingsim and doing so in real life, despite how realistic rfactor etc are :)
Ive raced around mondello and trust me my times were light years behind what i could achieve in a racing sim.

I know what you are saying, but its still a very big margin. Early 60s was my best on the national in RLR, albeit about 7years ago. The rotax-max mod should be interesting, I think they are doing similar times now. GTL was pretty accurate times wise though I have to say.

Anyway, rFactor FTW. Id say that german website with mods and tracks is well pi$$ed off with me now, I had getright working full tilt lastnight!

I played rFactor last night for the first time.
I'm well impressed, after having played GTR & GTL quite a bit recently.

I had a quick look for an online race, but they all seemed to be running mods I didn't have yet, so I kept pplaying single player and tried some of the mods like superkarts, Megane, GP2.

My first race in the OW I couldn't keep up with the pack at all, then I realised I was in Veteran mode, with the AI skill at 110% (or mabye higher, can't remember). I dropped that back to 95% and won a couple of races, upgraded the car a bit and ended up over a minute ahead in a 5-lap race !

Excellent stuff. Should have listened to Dcully & got this a long time ago.

Are there any "must-have" mods for the online racing ?
Seemed to be uite a few megane races, but they were on tracks I didn't have installed.

    Cheers,
    Declan

The main mods in use atm seem to be the Megane Trophy, Porsche Carrera Cup, and ProtoRacer Championship.

Other Mods also worth having a look at include:
    McLaren F1 Challenge
    F3 Euro
    Formula Nippon
F1 Champions If you are into Formula One
Legends Cars Probably the best models we've seen in rFactor to date, and great fun to drive if you can get the hang of them.
Lienz Festival of Speed The first mod released by ISI themselves, and they set a very high standard with it.

You can also pick up most of the tracks out atm from that site, and I added a few good rFactor links to the dusty links sticky up top yesterday.

    Never too late Dealgan :)
It takes a lot to take me from GPL and GTL but rFactor has done just that.
The mods are just awesome, very small downloads too :)
Now if only i wasnt addicted to WOW :(

That's easy enough to fix;) Take a step back and examine what you get out of this inexplicably addicting experience in WoW. Compare this to what you would get out of an equal amount of time spent in rFactor etc

Hey that legends one looks good, can't get it going though. Problem with my game is that I've downloaded so many mods that some didn't load properly so some of files are all over the place. Where does the rfm files for legends go, I've put the other 3 files where they are listed as going but my rfm main file only has a couple of files from different mods on it, i suspect it was created by a wayword mod. I cant find a proper rfm main files, like it has for locations etc. I've tried just plopping it into game data but no look.Do the rfm files for all the mods go in a specific place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,657 ✭✭✭OSiriS

There is an rfm folder in the main rFactor folder. Just drop the file in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,084 ✭✭✭dubtom

Your right Osiris, I put the folder the file was in aswell, that was the problem.
    Thanks.

Later...holy sh*it their hard to drive. sad day when a sim is harder to use than the real thing:D

    Have you tried GPL?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,084 ✭✭✭dubtom

Yes yes I have. This mod is harder. Probably down to the fact that I turn off all the help but still an all, I didn't even manage a clean lap of mondello, not complaining though. I think it's fantastic what these guys do with the mods.

Try the superkarts around mondello short ! wow. 17/18 seconds !
If you take any kerb at all you get launched into the air. I guess that's realistic though, with no suspension !

I still have trouble finding a server with a combination of car & track mods that I've got ! I filled 2 cd's of downloads and still am missing some cars & tracks !
I guess that the problem with so many mods, and most of the servers aren't public :(

I joined a public megane race on on of the toban tracks .. crazy stuff ... people off all over the place .. I ended up 3rd behind the pace car for a few laps and then all hell broke loose when the pace car went off. Amusing, to say the least.

I joined the bulldogsracing guys, but haven't been in their server when anyone else was there :(

Yea I've had trouble finding races too. I usually end up racing meghan cup too, essington gp is very good. Had one race on a very short oval, cant remember the name, at one stage there was about 30 cars. It was impossible to even get a good qualifying lap, the race was crazy, I lasted about 4 laps and was creamed:D How do you join a group, although in saying that I couldn't commit to a racing league, work etc.
