At the risk of sounding stupid I'm asking if anyone knows of a program (preferably free and/or open source) that converts ogg to mp3 or wave.

I'm all for open source but my mp3 player cannot play ogg files which means quite alot of my music will never leave my pc.

oggdrop will convert back to wav ( www.vorbis.org ) and belight (google it) will convert that to mp3. Belight may do both steps for you.

Personally...I wouldn't buy a music player that couldn't play ogg.

Oh, I didn't buy my mp3 player. It was a christmas present.

Rio Carbon. It's 6GB. Not fantastic but it works.

No worries. :) Be light should do the full conversion (just checked my own one).

Hard luck on the christmas present. ;) (joking).
