Hi guys I'm hoping someone can help me out. I cant slide a blank disk into my laptop, its as if theres something small blocking it / or that its been locked so to speak.
Its a slot loading DVD +R double layer drive.
Im not sure whats causing it. Any help would be grateful

Might sound stupid but you have made sure the drive is empty?

open my computer, right click and choose eject ! if there's anything in there it should come out unless the kids have been at it.

tried that and nothing. No kids were near it.
Come to think of it the last time I tried to burn a cd couple of weeks ago just using windows media player there as an error message saying it couldnt burn the disk due to possibility of wrong speed or disk not compatible and to try again. And now it wont let me insert the disk at all

Ai, there lies the rub of slot loaders... Never liked them for that very reason, although I do like the look.

Just in case somebody didnt see the post and might have an idea what would be causing this (its a new laptop) and it was working fine until now :(

Well if its new then should be under warrenty. Bring it back and get them to check it out. It sounds like its faulty. Have you tried inserting a cd at any other time other then when trying to burn a cd. I mean have you tried inserting a movie DVD when you first turn on the laptop? Have you tried starting the computer in safemode (F5 on startup) and inserting a CD / DVD?
