i'm recording rock, traditional and piano music

i would just like to know what systems on computers i need, which software, mic systems (especially connections) and soundproofing.

    thanks for taking an interest

Software: pro tools probably the best bet
Hardware interface: digidesign mbox 2 is good.
mics: Check out rode microphones- dirt cheap and amazingly good
soundproofing: this is quite complicated but the most useful thing to know is that eggcartons DON'T soundproof anything. It's soundproofing myth no.1

ye i have heard that a few times from people.
me thinks that curtains are by far the best. they dont keep in sound but rather record a clean sound (absorb it)
