Broadband available here?

Hello

I currently have digiweb satelitte broadband, 512kbps down and 128kbps up, for €100 a month. I dont have an activated phone line as family has mobiles and no need for phone for the service provided by digiweb.

I live in between barneycarrol and ballyfarna on the map on the link, it stated in the sunday newspaper awhile ago that the Knock, Kiltimagh and Claremorris exchange have all been activated, but I called up eirocm and gave them a number of a neighbour who lives down the road from me but their line test failed.

Am I able to get broadband or am I in a totally different exchange, I know I shouldnt be too optimistic about getting broadband as its a rural area.
I dont really want to actiavte line as I will have to pay line renatl etc for nothing if bb isnt available.....

Kind of a chicken and egg situation then.

I called up eirocm and gave them a number of a neighbour who lives down the road from me but their line test failed.

Lines on activated exchanges can fail as well. Mine did when I enquired first, turns out there was a noise on the line. After that was fixed, it passed with flying colours.

Hi shortys - can you see Knock Airport from your location, or are you on the southward slope of that big hill?

edit: There's also a big hill to the northwest of you, located beyond the Balla-Kiltimagh road. Can you see it?

yeas i am pretty sure i can see knock airport from my house.....
i dont think cheap and fast bb will ever become a reality where i live lol

yup, about furture wireless bb in area, but I want to know if anyone could tell me what broadband exchnage I am in, as every town around me has been enabled, Knock, Claremorris, and Kiltimagh, so whats the deal?

Use Smart's line checker to determine the exchange you're connected to.

pretty sure i am in knock exchange, eircom rep said that there are numerous reasons why line could be failing but there only sales reps so they cant tell me anything as she said, she said engineeers have to update lines maybe

ah well
