just buy this phone online for €49

    http://www.vodafone.ie/phonestariffs/ourphones/phonedetails.jsp?mysterons=1600&type=all

and you'll get €80 credit over the next 6 months

thats 31 credit for free, and you'll have a crap phone for a spare
notice this phone will help you to

"Break through your daily routine and enjoy more out of life"

    which is good!

the credit is only valid for the new sim.. which isn't worth the hassel for a lot of people..

btw, was anyone else expecting to get €31087 of credit at a bargain price by opening this thread?

Cant you just upgrade your old fone and keep the sim you already have?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭White Rabbit

    No.
The sim carries the credit, phone number etc.
A phone is just a shell to use a sim.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,669 ✭✭✭mukki

thats a pity now didnt realise it wasn't an upgrade, i was going to order a few of them,

edit.... wait i just checked and when you go to buy it online, it asks if you are want one with a sim or not, so think it might be a bargain after all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,386 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

Yes it works as an upgrade, I'm surprised more people dont do it, people think there must be a catch. I got a new nokia, the battery in my good nokia was going dead so now for €69 I got a new battery, €80 credit and a unused phone that I could get a few quid for since I unlocked it. Tesco will give you €2.50 for a phone in vouchers. Another charger is always handy too.

I do this every six months, buy a cheapo nokia upgrade, unlock the handset, sell it as new on eBay...free ~€60 credit each time

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,669 ✭✭✭mukki

just ordered one for the missess, i have a new phone thats under 6months so i doubt i'd get the credit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 642 ✭✭✭red_fox

I've got something like this the last two christmas', this year was really good, I got a new Nokia for €69 with €100 credit, which is really the same as now so it's great.

You also have to consider if you spent €49 on credit you'd get €59 credit (20% extra free on atms and online at the moment)

But if you don't mind recieving the credit over time then it's an additional €21, or 60% extra free as opposed to the 20%!!!!

how do you get the phones unlocked??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,669 ✭✭✭mukki

    2 ways

    1) email vodafone after 6 months

    2) www.nokiafree.org and check out the forums

Online calculators...work for most of the lower spec models...some of the newest and/or more advanced phones can be tricky though AFAIK.

no when you bay it, the site asks if you are already a customer, just say yes and, when the phone arrives log into the vodafone website goto

    https://www.vodafone.ie/myv/selfcare/secondlevel/Login.shtml?redirect=/myv/priceplans/freecallcredit/index.jsp

and enter the new phones IMEI (just press *#06#)

then get phone unlocked, put back in its box, and sell it on ebay

someone hoping to keep this trick quite??

How about "motion for thread to be removed"
and "someone hoping to keep this trick quiet"

A little grammar and spelling never went astray.....

Seriously though, nice one for finding this.....

Should really be "how's" seeing as how you are using "Hows" as a contraction for "how is".

    :)

How is the €80 spaced out over the 6 months, is it €30 up front and €10 each month after?

Dont devalue the phone by taking off the plastic to get the IMEI code. It's written on the barcode. I followed that link posted above, entered digits from my password and it said the credit would be applied to my account. No IMEI enetered

Any links to where one could unlock the phone?

No I meant you can get the credit applied without opening the box. Obviously you have to use the phone to unlock it.

In what way is the phone credit applied once registered? I registered it on-line yesterday but have received no credit as yet?

If you buy over €20 of call credit at vodafone.ie, they give you an additional 20% top up free. The downside is that you need to put it on your credit card.

Or you can do it via your bank's ATM machines or Online Banking if you're with AIB or BOI.

    Anyone?

There is a link somewhere on vodafone.ie (its on the same page you register the IMEI code) which gives a list of when you will receive each monthly topup.
It gives my first one as 4/5 though and I haven't gotten it yet.
However it also tells you if its been applied or not, and mine is not down as applied.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,683 ✭✭✭daveg

Update... I rang vodafone. Seems there was a problem registering it on-line (even though it told me the registration was sucessfull). They applied the credit over the phone.

You can go to any phone outlet and get a new phone of your choice and get 80 euro free call credit once you get a new sim with the phone.

I got credit for the second one i ordered on the same credit card (put it on gf's number), got it unlocked on first attempt too, and have now ordered a third phone this time for the little brother

hay steveo, long time no hear, hows it going?, say hello to the lads for me

yeah but most the phones cost over €80 so its not worth it unless you want a new phone, and this one is easy to unlock, but even if you dont bother selling it its a huge saving

Hey everyone, so I bought this for my sis but when I log into Vodafone profile the only option I can see as being right one is 'Register for Bouns Pack' but this doesn't work .. well it says IMEI is already registered!!?? What The!

Guess I have to give tham a call

Happening to Mrs Parsi as well with her new e770v.. happened with the old one as well...took Vodafone nearly a month to sort it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,669 ✭✭✭mukki

is the phone really that crap? gf need a new phone and this seems like a good deal. All she's interested in is calls, texts and a loud alarm clock!

is this one any better: http://www.vodafone.ie/phonestariffs/ourphones/phonedetails.jsp?mysterons=6030&type=all

If anyone wants to sell their 1600 that has not been used or is in immaculate condition, give me a shout.

Must be boxed with manual, battery, charger and handset.

    Dont need the vodafone/meteor leaflets.

Cannot offer a huge amount, but you got the free credit and I will give you a bit more cash as well if you dont need the phone.

    pm me for more info.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,467 ✭✭✭smemon

same can be done with 02, buy the 3120 for €79 delivered and get €90 free credit.

you get €11 credit plus a phone which can be flogged for probably €30+

a tidy little profit of at least €40.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,781 ✭✭✭pissed

ordered one today think this is the last day of the offer, credit can be applied to your existing sim.... how can you lose :D
