    TG4 made a very good documentry a few years ago about poitin you could probably order a copy from them. Basically poitin is made from lots of things that I can't tell you about because unlicensed distillation is illegal, which is why Majd has edited my post. The toughening of the anti poitin laws in the last century had more to do with public safety than pure revenue loss due to the dangerous crap being sold. Owning a "worm" or still was enough to get in trouble with the guards in the past and private distilling is still illegal.

    you're better off not distilling unless you really know what your doing, because if you distill at maybe 1 or 2 degrees away from the right temperature, you'll end up with methanol in your drink, which..wont do your body any good
