A friend of mine is turning 18 pretty soon, and she plans on having a fairly big party. She doesn't want it at her own place, and wants to hire out a club, function room or something. Preferably not too pricey.

Any suggestions on places, again, preferably in town.

Oh, and she doesn't want like a floor of a club, cause she doesn't want randomers gatecrashing, yes, she's fussy

    Thank you

Ring around most places have function rooms that at first seem cheap to rent, but then when you have to hire a DJ etc. the price soars. For my mates 18th his parents went all out and had a function room booked in the Castleknock Hotel. Full dinner and disco etc. Cost them a bomb!

Aye, ring around a few places..probably the hotels in your area have function rooms that might suit.

Cheap function room for an 18th birthday? Try the North Star. No hotel worth its salt will touch an 18th, because the partygoers will wreck the place. Basically, if you've had your debs there, you can have an 18th there.

As ^ said, alot of places won't do 18's. If you are of an unscrupulous nature, you would be better served saying it is a 21st.

These things can end up costing a bomb so don't over stretch, better off having a jam packed small function room than an huge empty dance floor. Also, there are plenty of DJ's around Dublin dying for gigs who are willing to do it fairly cheap to build up experience. Sadly, a good few of these are kids without a clue so your best bet is to ask some people who have had 18s or 21st and see how they got it together.

To be perfectly honest there aren't many good pubs / hotels that take 18ths anymore. At least half of the punters are guaranteed to be under 18. I worked in the bar industury for years and wouldn't even go near a 21st.

Have a party in your gaff instead.

she's the youngest of her friends, so they're all over 18.
She has access to a DJ. It's just a club/room she wants.
And as far as she knows, there are several clubs in Dublin that will take on the party, she just wants an idea of a few clubs/hotels that are decent, well kept etc, ie not a dive.
