    Ok, his computer's down.

    His Processor died, so they replaced the motherboard and processor.

    They just gave it back and told him to repair windows via console.

    Searching for IDE it can only find one hard drive when he has 2 hard drives.

    He used to have windows installed on D, and we assume the hard drive it can find is C because it's only finding 1.

    Reinstalled windows, still only 1 drive found, and the startup goes in circles until it sticks with a black screen.

    Presumably the repair people slaved his second drive when they put it on the new motherboard, making them one?

    The situation is in complete chaos, please help!

    To Clarify;

    Windows was on C until a virus he got rid of a few months back, Windows is still there on C but doesn't work or repair.

    He installed it on D then as the only way to get it to work, and everything was fine, except that every time the computer booted, it asked him which windows to run, and would only work if he chose D.

    Now, with the 2 Drives unpartitioned, 2 copies of windows are there perhaps indistinguishable except that one does not work, and since the drives aren't seen as seperate it doesn't ask which to use.

    Also, he was reinstalled windows (as stated latter), not repaired (as I mistakenly said in the first instance).

    thanks john...

    dont bother with this thread anymore (delete it) the problem was the techs at the shop set both my hard drives as masters, causing the computer to become muddled...
