Cheers Rymus. In hindsigth I should have spent much more time in that area behind BR station. Some great stuff there.

    thanks for the comment.

I like the gritty urban environment shot of #1 and the similarity with the diving board in #2. The metal engineering theme is nicely carried into #3. In my view these make a good set. #4 does not seem to fit with the others though.

    hey jools.

I agree. Maybe #4 doesnt quite fit. It's only in there because of that pallett and all the horiz lines.

I was on my way to work and only decided the last moment to jump off the train. Next time with a bit more planning I'll probably get set with a good theme going.

I agree with jools too. I like the second best. Maybe crop a little off the left hand side. Nice set without the last one.

First one would be my fave too - I like the way that the colours make it look like it could have been taken in Los Angeles or south america or somewhere like that.

The 2nd one I think is good composition-wise, but not sure if the lighting does it justice. Could perhaps look better as a black and white or maybe in better light - or even as a night time shot imo.

thanks for the comments ChityWest (and Valencia). I like to use a post technique where I use a channel mixer adjustment layer to knock out all the colours then turn the opacity of that layer to 10%-20%. It's kinda the same as tuning down the satuaration, but with a nicer result.

couldnt really ask for better light for this one, sun 2-3 hours after sun rise is pretty much the best natural light to get.

maybe you'd like it better without the PP technique mentioned above? (below)

Fwiw - yes I prefer the version above of the 2nd shot in that series - to me it looks more lively/vibrant.

The clouds in the distance toward the horizon look more dull in the top version than they do in the mark2 version just above. The towers seem to stand out a little more clearly (imo).

I'd definitely agree with all your comments but I like how the desaturation adds to the bleakness of the subject and the overall mood of the shot.

I guess it's a case of style over substance.

    thanks for comenting

    First one is very good!

    Really nice shot.

But I wouldnt really be mad into any of the other ones!

    Keep it up though!

First one is my favourite...I wonder what the Velvia filter could do for it?

Only the first and second shots do something for me, but in the post processed one, I think the background needs something a bit more to stand out. Not saying there's anything wrong with the 3rd and 4th though, they just don't appeal to me!

Along with a few others I took this photo from aound the same area a few days ago. Maybe the same cart? I wonder if the sea lifted it up? or are knackers becoming more productive these days?

Lol that cart is popular... I took a picture of it as well :) I live very close from there and often have lunch near the "swimming pool" behind the dart station... Here's mine:

Its funny how people see different things and how they use the same object for different photos.

I actually really like that shot! Really gritty and urban.

nice shots eas, the first being my favourite like many other posters. Am not a fan of pictures with power lines in them though, they distract me :)

Exar Khun and Dimy, also good shots. Id say that trolley has a lot of stories, "this is what they did to me last night" etc :D
