Watty very kindly answered part of this question for me but I am wondering if anyone here on ntl/chorus's mmds(digital ariel )service can tell me if when you got it installed and went for multiroom sub how did the lads install it. Another words when they ran the cable in from the room at what point did they split it and with what. Also did you notice any drop in quality becuase you have split the signal. The reason I ask is because a mate is on ntl digital via their cable and for each room he got connected they took a feed straight from the pod(which is connected to the thick cable, that runs along the front of the houses)so he is getting a pure feed instead of a split one. Would appreciate to hear from anyone using this service

    Thks Cubix

it could be that ntl insist on this, the contractors have to go back if its wrong so to avoid this i d say they do ' nt take any chances as going back would hit them hard in the pocket

The mmds service is quite different to the cable. The way they installed it in my sisters was they came straight from the mast into a power supply. From the output of the power supply, they split it in two, one going into the back of the digital receiver and the other into an ntl cable wall box and then into the second digital box. The reason they used the ntl wall socket was something about not sending power from the power supply to two boxes. To over come this you could use a 2 way splitter with one side having a power pass.

With regards to signal loss. The main box has an snr reading of 35.9 and the second has an snr of 34.2. Both of which are well within the recommended snr readings.

    Hope this answers your question.
