The Sporting Emporium are now running satellites into the Grand Final of the Irish Poker Tour.

Every Tuesday at 9pm (throughout May) the Sporting will be running €50+€10 reg tournaments with unlimited re-buys at €50 for the first hour.

Players will qualify directly into the IPT Final on June 2nd.
The entry to this tournament is worth €3,000 + €200 and the prize-pool is going to be an estimated €1,000,000.

If the necessary €3,200 is not reached players will receive credits for other Irish Poker Tour festival events.

You can contact the Emporium on 01 7030600.
Its located on Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin 2.

Or you can ring Stephen from Poker Events on 0872 424 626.

    Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean by charter please.

I don't have all of the exact info on this tournament itself but you can contact the Emporium Poker Room (01 7030600) to find out the starting stack and other details like that. Most of their tourneys start with a stack of 4,000 and half hour blind levels.

These tournaments are run very professionally and are of course 100% prize-pool payouts.

I was considering playing until i read that part, you have got to be kidding, right?

If the prize pool were to reach 2.2k, I would rather put up the 1k myself than gain entry into another event.

Of course you can make up the difference if you like. The credits can be used in any of the IPT tournaments.

    Sorry about the mistaken info.

Whats the story with no 150/300 level in the Sporting Emporium?. The jump from 100/200 to 200/400 is a bit harsh dont you think?.
Until the 150/300 level is included i cant see myself playing there again anytime soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,771 ✭✭✭carfax

    Yeah,
I know what you mean but I still find the structure very playable.

You just have to make sure you're prepared for the jump. The tournament itself is still well worth it in the sense that its basically a winner take all (shootout, if you will) and it will probably be necessary to build a big chip stack early to have a reasonable chance.

I agree though, I would like to see the 150-300 levels included in all tournies everywhere.
The first time I played in the Sporting Emporium I pointed it out to Bernard (the then poker room manager) but I guess he thought most of the players were happy with it.

Fair enough but the 150/300 level has been mentioned to the cardroom managers many times by many people none more so that ollyk1 i'd say. They just seem to have 'taken it on board' and done nothing.
This is one of their only flaws but its a big one and a lot of past S.E threads are about this 150/300 level or should i say lack of it.
I hope the satellites go well anyhow.

No, I don't. But I do like playing there.
I think the atmosphere is good and the staff are great as they are in all of the Dublin casinos.

I work for the Irish Poker Tour.

Had a bad afternoon session online, so I made for the SE to play this €50 rebuy "satellite" last night. Very disappointint turn-out, however... just 2 starting tables with a total of only around a dozen runners. Total prize pool of €1,550 so they just paid top 3 spots (50-30-20). Fair enough, but I would suggest that if turnout is so poor again next week that they change it to a €100 rebuy before it starts, so that there is at least a chance of getting close to a ticket. Other than that, decent game, no complaints about the structure, 20-minute clock, unlimited rebuys for 80 minutes, no missing levels... 25-50, 50-100, 75-150, 100-200, 150-300, 200-400, 300-600, 400-800, 500-1,000 etc

they have it the same night as the boyle one. seems a bit stupid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

I've mentioned the 150/300 level about 100 times to the management there. Always greeted with: "are you serious there's loads of play left even with that jump". yeah right, perhaps if you like playing craps.

i don't think the Merrion or Fitz have a 150/300 for small tourneys either (expect the Fitz tuesday €50 game)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 636 ✭✭✭Pokerevents

did any1 notice this level was skipped for the irish open also

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 837 ✭✭✭kpnuts

150-300 level was included last night, as I pointed out in above post. Yes, there were a LOT of people pi$$ed off about that level being skipped in Irish Open, don't see what relevance that has to this thread, however.

Fintan/Steven, can you guys perhaps organise that next week's SE "satellite" be changed to a €100 rebuy so there is at least a chance there will be enough in the pot for an IPT ticket?

    Cheers,

    KP

I'll certainly mention it to the Sporting management but its not my gig, they're calling the shots.

I'm really happy that they did listen to me about the 150-300 level though.

You didn't mention how you fared kp?, did you money?

I'm sure they'll get a decent crowd in next week anyway, but....

As it stands right now they are running a Leinster Open satellite next Tuesday just to build interest....If there is €3,000 in the prize-pool they are simply giving away 6 tickets to the May 26th event in the Gresham Hotel.

They'll be running main event qualifiers by the following week I would say.
