Hotbird /Astra 80CM Dish

I have a 80CM dish with dual LNB. I use the inputs for Sky subscription and a second FTA sky box.
I was thinking of trying for some FTA CHs from Hotbird. I understand there is a gadget one can fit and attach an offset LNB which can pickup Hotbird
while leaving the 80CM dish fixed on ASTRA.
Any advice on the above subject would be appreciated.
Can one make up an attachment to fix an LNB that is suitable for HotBird.
Is Hotbird the one with the most useful FTA CHs, ???
    Thanks

Yes, it's possible to get Multi-LNB brackets, which vary according to your dish. Can you tell what make your dish is, or perhaps post a picture?

You're currently using Astra 2 at 28 degrees East.
    Hotbird is 13E, Astra 1 is 19E.

Personally, I think Astra1 has better selection than Hotbird, but you might think differently.

I think it'd be rather difficult to have Hotbird as the offset LNB, as it's weaker signals than Astra2.

I'd suggest moving the dish to Astra 1, and then putting Astra 2 on one side, and Hotbird on the other.

For FTA channel lists, go to www.lyngsat.com for info.

Astra19 vs Hotbiord 13 as Byte suggests is a matter of taste. I prefer BBC World with teletext and watch Russia Today, NileTV international, IBA C33 and Arriang occassionaly.

    I have both.

13, 19, 23.5 & Quad Sky LNB all on one 80cm dish. www.satellite.ie has a 4 way bracket or make your own like I did.

    Dish pointed at 19E.

what quality levels are you getting on 23.5e as i have 1m motorised in dublin and i get almost nothing. i get 90-100% on most other sats including 42e 39e 30w etc thanks.

Most 23.5 is fairly poor. The Data transponder about 55% which is useable. Most of it is German Beam

thanks for that, i have not really tried to tweak the dish but as most of the stuff is scrambled (well a little bit anyway) i will leave wll enough alone. have all 42e 19e 13e & 30w and the feeds on 16e for the football so dont need it at the moment.:)

Indeed only the odd Shopping channel or Central European News channel is FTA. Main interest here would be for Casablanca.
