    How do I stop alerts from popoing up from the bottom right hand corner.

    yes - all of the above -- I got a reply on how to do it -- kill all alerts but cannot remember how.

    just think all the alerts for whatever reason are annoying

    In Windows XP Service Pack 2, there are three types of alerts:

    1. Firewall
    2. Anti-virus
    3. Windows updates

    You shouldn't get alerts for the first two (ie you should have a firewall and anti-virus!). If not that's another question...

    As for the third type, you need the alerts to tell you when you should update Windows! Here's a useful link.

    control center -> security center -> change the way security center alerts me -> untick the boxes
