Flying Knock to London, getting a bus down to Cardiff.

I've slept in phoneboxes before so I'm not too worried about accommadation, stay up all night drinking if needs be.

The possibilty of being drunk driving back to London put me off renting a car, buses are pretty cheap and only 3 hours. No good for sleeping in though!

Bit of advice for those struggling to find accomodation in Cardiff - stay in Bristol. Flights are much cheaper, it's 50 minutes on the train, which drops you outside the stadium and has some great nightlife. I stayed there in 2001 and am heading back over for this year's FA Cup final.

It would be best to book them in advance alright. Gonna do that over the weekend if I can.

You can see them here but basically the trains run every 20 minutes on the morning of the match and like Bristol, it only takes 50 minutes! And I think the last train is at 9 which is a little early, but its gonna be a long trip home the next day and Im probably gonna be drinking all day Saturday.....

    GWAN MUNSTER!

durham is up towards newcastle....it's the other side of the country. Is that your only option?

my girlie went to uni in Durham. She reckons:

5hrs 30mins on a train from Durham station to cardiff staion with a change at bristol.

Not including getting from durham airport to station.....might not be that close

    EDIT: she looked into it

the airport is actually closer to darlington.

it will take about the same time 5-5.5 hours. and you have to change in either bristol or derby.

it coould cost anywhere between £55 and £150 for a return ticket depending on when you book.

www.qjump.co.uk is a good site to look at.

It might be quicker (and possibly cheaper) to drive

Yuck 5.5 Hours....I am glad i am going to Birmingham

After the semi I was talking to one bloke who reckoned he was going to fly to Paris first and then start travelling back in the direction of Cardiff. I suggested he fly to London and get a train but I of course was the one with two heads :)

I can't check the prices on that site ..... You need to register and it won't let me without a postcode. Could you give me a quote for a student return??

Pretty sure you don't need a postcode just to check the prices - I just had a go and it didn't ask me for my details just to look at the times and prices. You probably do need a postcode to book them though.

As far as I know there's no such thing as a student return in the UK, unless you have previously purchased a young persons/students railcard and you're using this.

If you don't have a UK address/postcode I think it's unlikely that you'll be able to buy tickets online, and buying them at the station on the day is usually an awful lot more expensive.

One other thing...train journeys on Fridays are generally quite a bit more expensive than the rest of the week.

Is there no other way you can get there? You're facing a really long and expensive journey taking this route that's for sure!

I sent an email to them using this link and they setup an account for me. Purchased train tickets from Birmingham to Cardiff last week, I can pick them up at the station.
