Hi,

I don't know if many people would have cause to direct people to a specific forum on boards, but I was wondering what people would think if you could give out a URL like http://boards.ie/Greystones which would redirect to the "Greystones / Charlesland" forum (rather than saying: go to boards.ie > hosted > public > Greystones / Charlesland).

Though, I don't know if many (or even any) other people here ever have occasion to tell people about a particular forum here.

You can just give links to http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=625 , most forums will let you link words too so you can have Greystones / Charlesland

or you could use a service like www.shorturl.com to setup a short URL which redirects to http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=625

There are a few in existence already, for example www.boards.ie/icdg

I agree with this idea alright, and I think there are a few (whatever forums have portals set up), but more would be cool... I remember I suggested this a while back and the admins said it was worth thinking about, but I'm not sure what they got to after that.

www.boards.ie/pmp/ would be handy for the Portable Media Players forum alright... as would www.boards.ie/theatre/ for the Theatre & Performing Arts one...

www.boards.ie/tcd and www.boards.ie/ctyi already exist- i remember trying to get this going a while back but unfortunately it was at one of those ridiculuously busy periods for the admins. would like to see it happen tbh
